Project Description
Our mission is to reduce textile waste.
Roboro is an upcycled design and services studio and we want to change the way we interact with our clothing.
The problem is that our clothing has become disposable.
In a fast fashion society of 'buy cheap, and buy often', we are often unknowingly contributing to the second most polluting industry on the planet. A planet, which is quite literally burning and melting beneath our feet. While the fashion industry is taking small steps to correct this, it’s still not enough. It should no longer be ‘FASHION’ vs ‘SUSTAINABLE FASHION’, it should be ‘FASHION. PERIOD.’ And about working to clean up the industry as a whole.
ROBORO is for storytellers.
We are for those who want their clothing to be as unique as they are.
Our clothing tells a story, making the wearer a storyteller.
Our garments are conversation starters; conversations about
your style and your priorities.
Sustainable fashion is one of the ONLY sectors in the fashion industry which is growing. Ever more informed consumers know that their purchases have a global impact, and are demanding that their clothing purchases make a POSITIVE impact. When consumers replace everyday purchases with sustainable options (not only because they are sustainable, but because they are genuinely better products) is when real, global change occurs.
Buy clothes that you love and want to keep forever.
Rather than creating new products from virgin material, further flooding the consumer market, we only work with materials that already exist. By repairing, strengthening and beautifying textiles which had previously been discarded, we are changing the dialogue that damaged or dated clothing is ‘unwearable'. Rather, we are turning them into collectors items, that get better the longer you wear them.
- Our Atelier creates one of a kind garments, both ready-to-wear and custom designs. All our products are uniquely, upcycled designs made using textile waste.
- Our Manufactory works with companies to upcycle their marketing material into better than new, custom branded products. Keeping huge amounts of textile waste from being thrown away after trade shows, events and concerts.
- Our Influence shares the the tools and information needed to apply to Roboro principles to your closet and everyday lifestyle.
The most sustainable materials are the ones that already exist.
Inspired by that belief, all Roboro products adhere to our 6 Tenets; the foundation of our approach to the new global standard of fashion.
WANT TO BE INVOLVED?
The demand for our products has outgrown our production capabilities (It's the best problem we've ever had!). So now, we need to scale our current operation to increase production capacity and output, so we can divert even more textile waste away from landfills. To do this we need:
- More machines, tools and storage (fabric scraps take up SO much more room than you'd think)
- More team members (aka, DESIGNERS)
- E-commerce (retail is going the way of the dinosaurs and we need to evolve)
- Events and workshops, where we can share our 6 Tenets IRL!
I’ve chosen to use IFundWomen because it is so important for female entrepreneurs to support one another. Unlike other crowd funding platforms, IFundWomen reinvests 20% of their cut, back into the campaigns on their platform. Putting their money where their mouth is, in a true show of #womensupportingwomen
So…duh!

What is upcycling?
Also known as creative reuse, is the process of transforming by-products, waste materials, useless, or unwanted products into new materials or products of better quality and environmental value.
What does Roboro mean?
Roboro is a latin word, meaning 'to give physical or moral strength to. to reinforce, strengthen and make more effective.
It is pronounced 'ROW-BU-ROW'. Think Southboro or Northboro...but instead, ROboro.
Will I receive my thank you gift in time for the holidays?
We know that holiday season is upon us and we would be THRILLED if you decided to give any of our thank you gifts as presents to your friends and loved ones. While we cannot guarantee all of our thank you gifts will arrive in time (it takes time to make things look this cool), we WILL be sure to send you a Roboro branded explanation of what gift is coming their way. This way you have something to wrap and contribute to your family gift swap or friendsgiving white elephant party.
Who is MeWe Clothing Brand?
We have been operating the past two years as MeWe Clothing Brand. We recently rebranded to Roboro (so much cooler, right!?). Start ups and small businesses are faced with countless challenges, and sometimes to overcome those challenges you need to change your name. So thats what we did! We are excited for the opportunities this rebrand offers us. We now have the ability to scale our current upcycling operation, to make a measurable difference in reducing textile waste! A problem this BIG, needs a BIG solution. Thats where Roboro comes in!
Are the MegZany tees unisex?
They certainly are! All the tee shirts are upcycled and therefore, the sizing differs. However, rest assured that we will reach out to you, to determine which size you would prefer!
