A. M. Davis' Novels

I need funding to write two novels.

I am a novelist/storyteller  whose vision and insights change the way we see the world. I have been a poet and an artist and a short story writer. My editor is retired from Simon and Schuster after 50 years of editorial experience.

I consider this path at this my higher calling.

Often in popular culture, especially in television and movies, African American lives are told through white writers' narratives. That is changing because of public awareness of racial disparities in our society. The Black Renaissance that is happening now benefits the social health of our entire culture by raising awareness of the four hundred year historical context of our current racialized predicament. My job is to carry the reader to places that journey outside of the everyday life and graze up against the lives and feelings of the characters.

My writing will appeal to those who enjoy the literature of Toni Morrison and Nehisi Coates

I am living in a temporary shelter. My living situations have been precarious for over a decade. Now I am raising 80k so that I can have a home and a room of my own until I can get published.
