Project Description

  • What is the mission of your company or project?  Spotlighting and showcasing women in wine, film and the arts.
  • Describe the problem you are solving.
    • Most mainstream festivals are only awarding digital laurels and running online only events for maximum profitability for them, but not necessarily the best exposure or coverage for the submitters.
    • WWFF focuses on supporting women in film and stands apart from majority of the field of online festivals by offering showcasing and support a live festival event with VIP networking mixer for cast, crew, directors, producers and writers; live screening of films at the even; online promo reels of official selections; social media platform achievement announcements; featured on WWFF website; feature on Film Freeway WWFF festival page and event exposure with local and industry media.
    • We've also created Wine, Women & Film Magazine, an online publication that will launch in September 2022 with the Festival Edition and thereafter be published quarterly to expand the focus on the featured creative projects.
  • What is the market size/opportunity? Global and scalable.
  • What is your company/product about and how does it solve the problem? WWFF is a niche festival with a live event in a vineyard setting, with outdoor live screening of indie films, and this year will feature live jazz entertainment. It expands the focus beyond online only festivals offering digital laurels and IMDB credits, and offers an opportunity for indie film makers to be in the spotlight and featured that the larger film festivals like Sundance and Cannes might not due to sheer volume of entries and levels of exclusivity. It spotlights & showcases women in wine, film and the arts.
  • In addition, since launching the festival I have now secured another platform for promoting this niche market "Wine, Women & Film Magazine" which will focus its 1st edition exclusively on the Wine, Women & Film Festival participants, venue and any business partners or sponsors. The magazine will launch initially as an online publication using the Flipsnack platform (potential for limited edition print run if funding available, then we can make the live event at the festival also a launch for the magazine). Thereafter, the magazine will maintain it's focus on women in wine and film with complimentary articles, features and ads on a quarterly, seasonal basis (Winter, Spring, Summer, with the Fall Edition being the recurring Festival Edition since the event occurs in September which is "Crush" season or harvest season for the wine industry).
  • Why are you seeking funding and how will you spend the funding? Event related costs, merchandise, awards, website maintenance, any additional staffing if required.
  • Who is on your team? Wendy Watts (Event Director & Co-Creator), (Janet Hart, Co-Creator)
  • Thank your backers and make them feel appreciated!
    • Thank you so much for taking the time to review and consider this opportunity! It is our sincere hope that organizations like ours are not just a movement or trend but a constant resource supporting women in film and the arts. Though conceptualized as an annual event, we could grow to host quarterly events based on participation and popularity.
