My name is Mesha Williams and I am the owner of Instinctively Different. We are a woodworking design company that specializes in unique handmade interior furnishings. Additionally, we prove that women, especially minority women, can be creators, builders, and leaders within the woodworking industry.

Many handmade furnishings and decor are often overlooked for the cheaper and inexpensive alternative, which tend to quickly deteriorate and ultimately costing more to replace.

Due to the increase in the popularity of the rehabilitation of older homes, Real Estate Investors, property flippers, and even DIYers are looking to add an extra “wow” factor in staging homes for potential buyers. We want our items to be that “WOW!” with our unique and custom pieces that are designed to stand out. 

As we continue on this voyage, we have noticed the reaction of fellow Craftsmen when we enter a lumber yard. To most, women, specifically minority women, should not build. However, the lack of minority presence in the media is undeniable. Ask yourself, how many DIY or interior decorators have you seen featured on HGTV or popular social media outlets? Hundreds, maybe thousands. Now — How many are minority women?

Funding will help in developing our website and brand expansion, along with acquiring the necessary equipment to increase productivity. At Instinctively Different, we also desire to motivate more minority women to create, build, and break molds in the woodworking and design industry.
