Many Mompreneurs are intimidated by the basic tech they need to help their businesses compete online. We provide hands-on instruction and coaching to help those businesses succeed.
We believe that women who have more control over their online presence are in a better position to succeed in their businesses. This doesn't mean that they have to build their own websites and maintain them forever. But when they have been given the tools to succeed, they can now train an intern or an employee to update online content. If they choose to hire a web designer, they will now be better able to control their company's online narrative.
Mompreneurs need quality help to keep their business manageable
A solid online presence is crucial to compete in today’s economy.
-
Unfortunately, so many women of color are entering the world of business without a firm grasp on the technology and systems their businesses require to even be discovered, let alone consistently patronized in our increasingly, technology-driven economy.
-
Untrained & unspecialized business coaches often dole out advice that is unsubstantiated and unhelpful.
-
The goal of these so-called coaches is simply to line their own pockets with affiliate income, rather than give high-quality content
-
This leads to business owners who are discouraged, disillusioned, and defeated.
We don't want to see entrepreneurs losing their drive & savings
With high-quality, step-by-step, on-demand coaching for business success.
We are creating an all-in-one platform providing mompreneurs with the instruction & hands-on coaching necessary to actually compete in an increasingly tech-driven economy.
The platform consists of
-
Coaching on DIY resources
-
Weekly Q&A sessions
-
On-demand training
-
Tech support
-
Business Strategy sessions
-
A social forum / Community
-
Networking opportunities
As a boutique web design company (Brinkley Web), we aim to help every client that we work with, strengthen their online presence. Though, in 2020, the web design industry quickly felt the impact of the pandemic. We received more requests than we could possibly handle from small businesses that needed help FAST. Many of these small businesses weren’t truly in the position to hire a web designer for various reasons.
Hiring a web designer without clear business goals :
-
Leads to MANY costly site revisions
-
Doesn't allow you to fully optimize your business for Google search traffic
-
When customers don't understand what you offer ...they don't buy
We encourage aspiring and fledgling small businesses to utilize DIY platforms in the beginning stages of their company. Quite frankly, they are the BEST option for a small business owner needing to invest capital into other foundational aspects of their business. Since we specialize in helping small to medium-sized businesses with generally 1-5 employees, we build their websites on DIY platforms so that they will be able to learn to manage their back of house operations as well as make changes to their websites as their business evolves.
While we LOVE and promote DIY platforms, as experienced web designers, we know first-hand that they are not enough. 90% of our clients come to us for assistance with DIY platforms. Why is this?
Simply put, because they are not web designers
Our entrepreneurs are AMAZING at what they do. But even the ones that have a fantastic eye for design, generally do not have the time to invest in learning web building software. There are system glitches, updates, Search engine optimization. Their OWN BUSINESSES have enough problems that need solutions.
They also don't know what they need. I'm sure that we don't have to explain this concept to any of you for very long. Imagine you are on Neptune and your micro-gravity combuster is broken. What do you do next? HAhaaha just kidding. Excuse my corny Star Trek-inspired humor. I am a Financial Advisor turned Web designer. It's par for the course... alas I digress. My point is ...
Of course, our program can and will help ANYONE who chooses to enroll. We are focusing on Women of color, in particular, black women because as a group Black women have been disproportionally affected by the pandemic. Early surveys suggest that
-
58% of black women - compared to 32% white women have lost their jobs or been furloughed.
-
3 times the deaths have occurred among black individuals vs. white -
-
The death toll is 6 times greater In cities like Chicago
What about the business aspect?
-
Since 2007, the number of firms owned by African-American women has grown by 164%.
-
Among all businesses nationally those owned by Black women have average sales per business of $28,000, compared to $768,000 for those owned by white men.
-
4 million new jobs and $981 billion in revenue would be added if the average revenue of minority women-owned firms matched that of white women-owned businesses.

The entrepreneurs that we strive to work with are often creative, zealous, and full of ideas. But many of the resources that currently exist don’t account for the lifestyle and time constraints of your average mompreneur.
After completing Worksheets, downloads, learning countless CRMs and plugin recommendations. the busy mom finishes a coaching program, goes through endless, costly website revisions. Then, she is exhausted. But what’s worse, she learns like many entrepreneurs after their first year in business; that she has to pivot. Her business model needs tweaking. She overvalued the market. She picked the wrong niche. She is dejected, defeated, and quits.
Websites for Busy Moms is creating a program that gives moms a firm foundation. The ability to update their websites themselves. Then, if they need to change course, they have nurtured a loyal customer base. They can pivot, without feeling that all the time and work that went into their first venture was wasted.
What Websites for busy moms offer small business owners
It’s not just crowdfunding, but crowdfunding on the IFundwomen platform. Firstly, if you are here, you are probably WELL aware of the socio-economic gaps that exist between black women and their counterparts in the United States. We love what IFundwomen is doing to advance Women-owned businesses and the ideas of Women of Color. IFundwomen is seeking to help close the gap of funding for Women, and they have made a special extra push to assist women of color because they understand the disparities.
-
We need to prove that people care enough about our cause to give money to support it.

That would be awesome!! We already have plans for phase 2. Nilvia Brinkley our founder was in the financial services industry for several years. Financial literacy education is a passion of hers. Our goal is to add a STRONG financial stability component to our curriculum. Especially because financial hurdles are another main cause of the failure of most small businesses. Also, to ensure that our students maintain competitive businesses, our work will consist of a constant process of iterating and reiterating.
