Update 2

Hello funders and followers! I just wanted to pop in to share some exciting updates.

Collaborator Update:

In the few weeks since launching this project, I've connected with several sexual health professionals who have given encouragement and shown interest in contributing to Relearning Sex Ed. I'm so excited to announce our first four confirmed collaborators, along with the topics they will be discussing in the RSE publication:

  • Courtney Brame (he/they), founder of Something Positive for Positive People (https://www.spfpp.org/); providing blurbs on STI stigma and minimization
  • Hannah Horton (she/her), sex educator; providing blurbs on sexual pain
  • Amanda Cruz Gerena (she/her), MS MEd LPC; providing blurbs on the impact of religion and colonialism on sexuality and the perceptions and nuances of casual sex
  • May Booth, education specialist at lotus., a sexual violence educational program hosted through the Mazzoni Center, a Philadelphia-based organization that provides comprehensive health and wellness services in an LGBTQ-focused environment

In addition to these four confirmed collaborators, I am in conversation with four other sexual health professionals who are interested in collaborating on this project.

Funding Update:

Though there has been a lot of movement in the collaborator department, our fundraising has slowed down substantially in the past week. With just a little over a month left to fundraise, it's super important to get this project out there and gain as much traction as possible. With the high demand for art and education grants, crowdfunding is the sole guaranteed method of ensuring that we can provide substantial payment to all contributors. Once published, Relearning Sex Ed will be sold at-cost to make it as accessible as possible. In other words, I am not making a profit from this project whatsoever, but it is incredibly important to me that all of our contributors are compensated for their labor.

To gain more fundraising traction, I am requesting that anyone who feels comfortable share the link to this campaign with their network. This action would be highly appreciated and helpful as we continue our fundraising efforts.

As always, I'm sending a big thank you to those who have contributed to this project in any way, whether through contributing financially or sharing our campaign. This wouldn't be possible without you!
