We hope that this message finds you well, and that you’re keeping yourselves and your families safe.
THANK YOU so much for your contribution to our crowdfunding campaign, and the making of our debut album, THIS JOY. We’ve raised over $27,000 so far. We’re incredibly grateful.
We wanted to reach out to update you on what is happening with our campaign in light of the COVID-19 crisis. As you know, much uncertainty has been created by this unexpected turn of events. Many of the members of our chorus are full-time musicians based in New York, the city hardest hit by the closings, the cancellations, and the bans on large gatherings. Like many Americans, these members of our chorus find themselves completely out of work, quarantined, with bills coming due. Those who are a part of the gig economy are generally not qualified for unemployment benefits or health care, and this is especially devastating to performing artists.
Due to this, we have made a decision to switch course, and donate all funds we raise above $30,000 to the members of our chorus who are so urgently in need at this time.
We also want to make you aware that, due to the crisis, there will be a delay in the turnaround for delivery of rewards, especially those that involve meeting chorus members face to face, or gathering in large groups. We will be sure to reach out to you again once we have more details regarding this.
This crisis truly underscores the importance of your support, which is helping us create an album recorded, sung, played, engineered, and produced 100% by women and non-binary artists. In an industry where women are the most underrepresented, lowest paid, and most heavily impacted by times like these - your support is greatly appreciated.
We will be in touch again when our campaign ends April 30. We’ll be sure to keep you posted if our crowdfunding schedule should shift.
