:: MISSION ::

Spruce is a walk-in refresh lounge for socially active professionals, daily commuters, and tourists in New York City.  A convenient oasis created with every necessity and just enough opulence with which to prepare for a night out. Spruce covers all your needs from item storage to customizable toiletry packages.

:: THE PROBLEM :: 

People who live in big cities are always on the go and don’t always have time to go home to freshen up. Packing and carrying a bag with toiletries, a phone charger, an extra outfit or other basic necessities you’ll need for your next destination is a nuisance. Additionally, trying to find a clean place to freshen up before your next stop is nearly impossible.

Oftentimes we end up stopping into a coffee shop or bar just to kill time and end up purchasing items we don’t want so we can stay inside the venue. Why isn’t there a designated walk-in venue you can walk-in to shower, change clothes, charge your phone and store those items you don’t want to carry?
1. Because the members only businesses that offer these amenities are exclusive and expensive
2. Venues such as gyms or hotels aren’t meant for quick visits
3. Most venues won’t allow you to use their facilities unless you are a paying customer or member

:: BE PART OF THE SOLUTION ::

Your generous contributions will help support the launch of our first mobile unit and two pop-up locations. Additionally, this financing will go towards training, marketing, hiring + app and website creation.

:: GIVING BACK ::

A portion of Spruce proceeds will go towards rare childhood cancer research. As a survivor of a rare nasal childhood cancer, I want to make sure I do my part to support and raise awareness.

:: MARKET SIZE ::

There are currently 8.2 million people residing in NYC, 3 million of which are between the ages of 24-40. Nearly 1 million workers enter NYC every day for work, representing approximately 20% of the city's workforce. This group of people are too far from home to go back and forth during the middle of the day.  Oftentimes they end up stopping into a coffee shop or bar only to pass the time and end up purchasing items they don’t want just so they can stay inside or use the venue.  With the average cup of coffee in NYC costing $4 and alcoholic beverages ranging from $12-$13, why not come into Spruce where their money is put to better use?

:: ABOUT THE FOUNDER ::

From a young age, growing up in a small New Hampshire town, I knew I wanted to live in New York City. My town provided me with a great childhood, but I wanted to experience a larger world. A full athletic scholarship started my journey to NYC and paid my way through college. After graduating with a degree in marketing, I tried many different professions until I found one I truly enjoyed--event management and production. Although I’ve loved working in events, I believe every position I’ve had was so I could gain the knowledge and skills I need to bring Spruce to life. I bring over 10 years of event production experience including staff management, budget creation and management, venue sourcing, contract negotiation and concept ideation. I am also my own customer and know the frustrations of having to carry “home” with me all day with no reliable space in which to pass time and freshen up.

I believe in Spruce and I’m going to apply everything I’ve learned over the years in order to create something that will inspire people no matter their circumstances. We’ve seen many companies gain the trust of its consumers through false promises and beliefs and it is my mission to stay true to myself as well as the Spruce brand.
