Spreading some calm livin', in an ambiguous time.

My motivation is to teach society that mental health does not always have to be viewed as a weakness and that when one accepts their emotions, and seeks a calming outlet, they truly will be able to find their inner strengths. calm livin’ was created to start a positive journey, while respecting our environment, during an ambiguous time. Our society has come to realize and understand more about themselves, their environmental position and their mental health during this past year, making these the most common points of growth.

Many of us let our hectic schedules and busy lives outweigh the importance of taking time for ourselves. We realized that the exposure to nature can make humans feel calmer, and elevate a person’s level of happiness. Whether it is an ocean, forest, lake or mountain we drive endless amounts of miles to find a sense of serenity. In order for us to set out on our mission we must respect the people and places around us, so everyone can find their version of calm livin’.

calm livin’ is an ascetically pleasing coastal apparel company that originated on Cape Cod, Ma. We wanted to create a fashionable brand where all our designs have a purpose behind them, our first designs was created to “respect our ocean”. We donate a $1 for every product purchased to support CARE for the Cape and Islands a non-profit sustainable organization. If I was select for the Amber Grant I would be able to create more designs and have the ability to connect new collections to many different non-profit organizations. For example I have two collections I am currently working on “Climbing Mountains” Collections and “Pride 2021” Collection. The “Climbing Mountains” will be focused on finding the correct non-profit organization where their mission is to protect our forests and mountain sides. Another Collection, as a gay women small business owner this is another area where I would like to focus on during pride season, “RESPECT OUR COMMUNITY” Pride 2021 Collection and a percentage of proceeds will be donate to support PFLAG – Cape Cod. At the end of the day this grant will allow me to create more desirable styles, which will then help me raise more money for different local foundations. I want to stay true to my coastal routes but bring a purposeful meaning to all my designs. These associations set out to make a difference in this world, and it’s my duty to support more of these charitable groups because that is the direction our country needs to be moving in. We all need be more kind, supportive and respectful so we all can find out version of calm livin’. 

I am seeking funding because I am a regular woman who wants to make a difference and create journey people are honored to be apart of especially in today's society. And like any regular person I have monthly bills and student loans that prevent me from seeking out my true mission.
