SPECIAL PARENTS IN NEED

Indie Living is a nonprofit organization, under the fiscal sponsorship of Good Counsel Services, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, dedicated to creating co-living communities for adults with Autism.  However, due to the current coronavirus pandemic and the catastrophic financial impact it has had on families, we are pivoting right now to provide direct cash assistance to special needs families on Long Island.  

The costs associated with raising or caring for someone with special needs are already significantly higher than raising a typical child.  Now, with businesses closed, people out of work and everyone's support systems relegated to virtual support, special needs families are drowning.  Because of this crisis, Indie Living is setting up our SPiN crowdfunding campaign.  Special Parents in Need is a fund to provide much needed financial help to families that are raising and caring for individuals with developmental disabilities.

All proceeds will be distributed directly to families, in varying amounts.  We are hoping to raise at least $5,000 for these families.  Of course, the more money we raise, the more people we can help.  We have not abandoned our housing goals.  Rather, we are doing what we do best; identifying real-world needs and supporting the family unit.     

Our team consists of passionate individuals who each bring years of experience and expertise in Autism, Education, Business Management and Development, Marketing, Real Estate, Psychology, Social Work, etc.
