WELCOME

SIGNATURE BRIDE is the only luxury bridal lifestyle platform for Black couples across the diaspora. Launched in January 2020, we’re determined to provide a safe and culturally relevant wedding resource, no matter who they choose to love.  

In the current sociopolitical climate, it’s more important than ever that underrepresented voices are celebrated and amplified. At SIGNATURE BRIDE we’re doing our bit to diversify the wedding industry and we’d welcome your help!

THE PROBLEM

No, not just for some, but for everyone.

In 1965, Jackie De Shannon and Dionne Warwick separately released the timeless classic, What the World Needs Now is Love. The ballad is just as meaningful today as it was 55 years ago.

Getting engaged and married represents a significant milestone in life. Purchasing a newsstand publication,  identifying websites/social media platforms, and attending events to help guide, plan and celebrate this new chapter in life should be readily available for all.   

However, in the $300 billion wedding industry, the current representations in editorial and advertising are just for some and not everyone.  This void holds especially true for people of color, not only in the United States but across the African diaspora. Brands lack diversity and inclusion in their advertisements. Media outlets lack editorial cultural competency and diversity in their articles. 

It's rare to see Black or other minority women on the cover of mainstream bridal publications. Black brides and grooms have limited representation on bridal websites, advertisements and event programming. Yet, they have an undeniable buying power of $1.8 trillion and a significant influence on pop culture, fueling the global economy. 

Outspending the general market in 27 categories, Black women differ in how they communicate, shop and celebrate. As a consumer, they are receptive, influential and loyal to brands who are high-quality and inclusive. Passionate about being connected, Black consumers have adopted digital formats at a higher rate than the general population and have adapted the formats to provide a powerful platform to amplify their voices. 

Black women and men do not have enough choice in the current wedding market — and it is time to change that!
 

THE MISSION 

We represent the unique culture of Black brides who have been consistently overlooked and underrepresented. We are on a mission to change the narrative of Black love and marriage. 

SIGNATURE BRIDE provides inspiration and support for wedding planning and preparation, as well as content that deals with the core issues of relationships, marriage and family. As we grow, we will continue to share our content on our website and social media platforms, newsletters, podcasts and print. We’re not just interested in helping Black women plan their weddings, we want to support them in enjoying a healthy and happy marriage.

THE TEAM

Our small but mighty team consists of a veteran print media publisher, a digital media marketing powerhouse and some of the best freelance journalists, bloggers and thought-leaders in the industry. 

Through our print, digital, social media and virtual events we reach over 9.3 million people per month in 16 countries. 

RECENT PRESS & REACH

In 2020, we were featured in Heart & Soul, Trip Cast, Equally Wed and Chaundria TV for the creation of our Love Conquers All Wedding & Honeymoon Giveaway, a $10,000 COVID-19 wedding and honeymoon giveaway to help brides and grooms who were impacted by the pandemic with the financial and in-kind support of inclusive brands, including WebWedMobile, Fenty Beauty, Hitchswitch, ROAM Luggage and more.  

WE NEED YOUR HELP 

We’ve been overwhelmed by the demand for our content and are so proud of what we’ve achieved so far, but… we’re not done yet! We want to reach a wider audience, connecting Black brides-to-be across the world to the information and the resources they need and want.

The funds we raise will be used to:

• Hire an editor to drive and expand the content of SIGNATURE BRIDE
• Work with more writers of color to create engaging, relevant and fresh content
• Bring photoshoots in-house, ensuring the Black models are featured in array of inclusive  fashion and beauty brands and destinations
• Hire a contracted digital marketing strategist to expand our digital event offerings
• Hire sales reps to sell advertising/marketing
