Everyone, from politicians to investors, chief executives to parents, is concerned about the student loan debt crisis. Whether you're an HR manager, cash-strapped single mother, doctor, blogger, entrepreneur, recent graduate or still in undergrad, you feel the weight of this financial burden. It impacts so many aspects of our life: we stay longer at jobs we do not like because a steady check seems more reasonable than taking a chance on happiness, we forego buying a house, we do not take vacations, and we delay having children. We pick up mindless side-gigs to fill in the gap which makes us even increasingly mentally unavailable, financially vulnerable, and yearning for more meaningful impact in our lives.
With the rise of student debt, many of us simply can’t afford to do pro bono work. Meanwhile, nonprofit organizations have limited human resource capacity and often need professional services that their budgets can't afford. And while US Corporations are investing $4.2 trillion in employee wellness and over $20 billion annually on corporate social responsibility activities, they aren't addressing the #1 employee-identified pain point: employee student debt.
Why we are needed
Student loan debt affects 44 million Americans with women and minorities being disproportionately affected. We are the only program that specifically outreaches to the professional women in the US who carry over $900 billion of the 1.5 trillion of student loan debt. Shared Harvest is investing in individuals who sought to invest in their education only to become beholden to debt. We are tackling the gender pay and intergenerational wealth gap in a unique way to give women the financial flexibility to follow their passions. When women win, our families, our companies and our communities all win.
Shared Harvest is alleviating some of the financial burden through our on-demand platform which rewards student loan debt holders for doing good in the community.
How we tackle the problem of student loan debt:
Shared Harvest supports the people capital that is needed to get things done. We have a B2B and B2C model SaaS platform. Members sign up, create a profile listing their skills and then choose which cause they want to champion. Our smart technology creates unique matches to nonprofit organizations in need of services and we reward our volunteers with a student loan repayment stipend funded through your participating employer or through our Shared Harvest Fund membership network. As a benefit corporation, we are mission-driven to champion the financial health and total well-being of our users. Nonprofit organizations receive the help they need, complete with project management support, and you pay down your student loan debt faster!

Frequently Asked Questions:
- How does the program work? Employers sign up for our student debt relief benefit for their employees which are tied to flexible, short-term volunteer project opportunities supporting social causes they care. In exchange, the employee receives student debt relief stipends from their employer.
- How much is each stipend? This is entirely determined by your employer as are the number of projects that are needed to be completed to receive the benefit (ie one per quarter, two per year, etc). Our current Debtfreelancer™ initiative supports random stipends from $250-$1000 for the completion of projects and is not hourly based.
- How does the debt get paid? Shared Harvest pays the stipend directly to your designated student loan lender.
- What if my employer doesn't currently participate in the Shared Harvest program? Can I still benefit? First - refer your employer to us! Every employee should have this benefit. Second, as we grow we are continuing to create funding opportunities for select projects as part of our premium membership program for individuals who want to give back but don't have stipends supported by their employer. Basically, anyone can join the Harvest!
