Project Description
- Sense-ational You is a clothing brand that focuses on meeting the functional, aesthetic, and expressive needs of autistic individuals and those with sensory-processing throughout their lifetime. We are going beyond sensory-friendly clothing to bring hidden functionality into apparel so that everyone can have the tools they need while having the confidence to be themselves. We are constantly growing and listening to the community to continuously improve our designs and customer experience.
- Tags and seams can be really uncomfortable and even painful to those with Sensory Processing Disorder. Beyond that common noises, textures, lights, and more can be very dysregulating. We are creating apparel to minimize they sensory irritants.
- 1 in 20 have Sensory Processing Disorder. 1 in 44 have Autism Spectrum Disorder. We launched as a children's brand addressing many of these needs and are now looking to expand into adult sizing to help address these sensory needs across their lifespans. Sensory needs are not something you grow out of and adults need tools too!
- We are first expanding with our Stimuli- Reducing Hoodie that features a sound reducing hood, with a weighted feel, an eye mask that can pull down, and magnetic closures. And of course is TAG FREE.
- We are seeking funding for the sample development and bulk production of our next hoodie that will also be in ADULT SIZES.
- Sense-ational You is owned and operated by solo-preneur Julia DeNey. Julia also works as a paraprofessional in an autism classroom in the Boston Public Schools. She first began working on these designs over 5 years ago through an independent study in college. Since graduating into the pandemic, Julia has been building Sense-ational You into the brand it is today.
