S203 Management: A community for musicians
S203 Management is an artist management startup — my goal is to create a community where I assist musicians and they help each other.

- What's S203?
- Well, that's me up there! Alex! I founded S203 in May 2020, amidst well, you know.
- What is the mission of your company or project?
- The mission of S203 Management is to assist up-and-coming musicians with their management and marketing needs. This can range from site and merchandise design to booking. In turn, I want to foster growth of the relationships between artists on my roster. No one knows the art better than the artist, and I know they can help each other grow as professional musicians. I'm just there to aid in the process.
- Describe the problem you are solving.
- Many new artists don't have the bandwith to put all of their energy into creating their music and also promoting it to current and prospective audiences. Several musicians that I've talked to find that once they hit a certain point in their career, they need an extra hand booking gigs, updating their website and social pages, securing creative teams, and in general staying on top of *everything*
- What is the market size/opportunity?
- I currently have a roster of three Boston-based independent artists. The potential depends on the size of the team, as now it is just me. The market of independent R&B artists [the genre I work with most closely] is immeasurable, as there are new musicians breaking into the scene daily. To put it simply, there's no shortage of musicians who need help.
- What is your company/product about and how does it solve the problem?
- S203 Management assists musicians with any and all needs and if I don't know how to solve I problem, I find someone who can. My background is in social media marketing and community management for startups and small businesses in the Boston-area. I utilize the community I've developed here and in New York to build a network for artists on the S203 roster.
- Why are you seeking funding and how will you spend the funding?
- I don't want to overcharge my artists for any work I do on their behalf — to that end, I charge a very reasonable hourly rate which will then shift to a commission-model at a certain point in our relationship. [This can all be explained further if need be!] Because of this, all of the revenue I bring in goes back out to expenses; Squarespace, G-Suite, lawyers fees, LLC fee, merchandise, travel, etc. My main motivation for hope to be able to hire an intern and to pay them, unlike most music industry internships. Funding will help me cover the costs I've already incurred, expand my services, bring on more artists, and hire an intern to assist with all of the above.
