The Road To Miss Black America

My name is Khadijah Shakirah Abdul-Azeez and I am a 2021 delegate for the Miss Black America Pageant  representing Stockbridge GA. The pageant will be hosted in Philadelphia PA in February 2021.

I am super excited to use this platform to spread awareness to inner and outer beauty. Inner beauty starts with healing and outer beauty is all about self care. I believe we can not have one without the other. I am a peer specialist which is someone with lived experience in mental health recovery and now I coach others through their recovery. I am also an author, motivational speaker and content creator. I am an overall creative spirit and I want to use my creativity to help sow the seeds of positivity in everyones lives.

I have helped my community in so many different ways by volunteering my time to speak to women at prisons, I also traveled to schools and spoke to students about ending the silence in regards to mental health. I wrote a book called Makeup For Your Soul to teach women inner beauty through makeup. Every day I work on developing myself so that I can build my character just so I can be a light for everyone who is stuck in the dark. My goal is to bring hope and inspiration to black women. by participating in the Miss Black America Pageant I will have a chance to cultivate a sisterhood.

I have a brand called MFYS BEAUTY and it stands for Makeup For Your Soul . MFYS mission is to Help women down the path of transforming their reality of beauty by encouraging them to embrace the Queen within them.We will do this by Motivating women to connect their inner and outer beauty. Transforming women’s reality of beauty through helping them identify self awareness through the process of self healing. Conversing openly about inner and outer beauty to connect the two. Creating an inclusive environment around beauty within women’s everyday lives with our products, interactive content, sessions, and seminars.Bring the awareness of the various concepts of beauty that women may struggle with such as emotional, spiritual, and physical wellbeing.Stimulate a conversation that will help women to understand the strengths and weaknesses for the holistic development of beauty.

• MFYS has the innovative vision to fill the gap between inner beauty and cosmetic beauty. Women tend to see these aspects separately but both impact each other. Women have trouble connecting with one another about uncomfortable topics regarding self development. 
• Women compare their selves to unrealistic beauty standards but we want them to feel comfortable with their own reality of beauty. we would like to address this problem so that women can feel comfortable in their own skin and become aware of their mental and physical journey.
