Polished Petite Ready-to-Wear Business Attire

As a petite, average Hispanic girl, I always dreamed of having a wardrobe that would make me feel visible to the world. Among other things, I had a fear of being overlooked because I struggled to stand out from the crowd. When I was 16, one day prior to a large conference, I bought a pattern and decided to sew a taffeta dress for myself to ensure I would be on the map among the other well-dressed guests. From that day on, a flicker of hope turned on in my world, one that is growing more brightly by the day.

I fell in love with fabrics and clothing design, particularly in the business wear and eveningwear categories. I’ve worked with various talented seamstresses who have made my sketched designs come to life. I amassed a modest collection of preppy heels and purses to complement my wardrobe. By wearing my specifically couture creations, I have developed a confidence that has allowed me to gain influence among peers and rock job interviews.

The Fashion Institute of Technology confirmed that over 70 million US women are under 5’4” tall.  Clothing for petites is scarce, especially business wear and outerwear. The proportions of most clothing on the market is not flattering on petites. Am I the only one who tries on a coat, only to have the sleeves extend much past my wrist? How about a blazer in which the bust is almost level with my waist? Yes, the struggle is real, but my designs ensure that every petite female can have professional clothing fit her as well as it does on the model.

For many petites like myself, time is always the lacking commodity. For this reason, my couture is designed to make looking “put together” as easy as stepping into a dress, zipping it up, and walking out the door. No need stress over “dry clean only” labels or disheartening wrinkles. The fabrics are handpicked and treated to ensure that they look amazing straight out of the laundry basket. Crepe scuba fabric is one of my favorites- it has just enough stretch while retaining color vibrancy and flattering structure in each garment. 

I seek funding to help every other petite female feel confident as ever, in any circumstance. I believe that every female is a walking resume of herself; so why not command respect simply by dressing well? My target market are professional-minded females between the ages of 15 and 55, 4’10”- 5’5” tall. Even more so, my designs are inclusive of ethnically curvy body types.

I am asking you to consider the impact your funding would have for many other petite females who are ready to thrive in their professional careers. They simply need the opportunity to be noticed. Polished Petite has designs ready to be released into the scarce petite clothing market!

I seek funding because I am ready to send my designs and samples to be manufactured. My team currently involves just myself and one dedicated seamstress, but I seek to give at least 20 young Hispanic females an opportunity to join my team and help develop the Polished Petite brand. I already own the domain www.polishedpetite.com. My funding will be spent on production costs and payroll for a team that includes sampling, marketing, site building, and product distribution. Startup costs are estimated to be $15,000.00. Aside from the US market, my brand aims to use Instagram as a means to extend its reach to benefit Asian and Hispanic petite audiences. Every professional female deserves to feel noticed and valued, so I am excited to promote the Polished Petite brand!
