The mission of MERDE Magazine is to subvert the standards of glossy mainstream fashion publications that produce the same kinds of content and images. MERDE is passionate about illuminating fashion industry insider narratives that aren't typically shown in mainstream fashion magazines and show a unique perspective and imagery.
MERDE fills the gap of satire within the fashion publishing landscape, where many individuals take themselves too seriously. Instead, MERDE is a self-deprecating publication embedded with humor and wit.
We currently distribute in niche bookstores across 3 continents and in more than 6 countries. We hope to expand our stockist retailer list upon the release of Issue 3.
We are seeking funding to print, distribute and market Issue 3. Due to our anti-fashion ethos, we don't advertise and thus don't have any bias within the fashion industry. We understand that in order to subvert the system, we must remain critical and marginal within it, though this limits our financial capital we believe it sets us apart from other independent fashion magazines.
Our team is a globally dispersed network of collaborators who all seek the creative outlet that MERDE projects through authentic content. We started in Paris, France where the founder studied her master's, though are officially registered in the United States. Collaborators are based all over the globe - Germany, Denmark and even Japan. MERDE is not limited to one country or concept and continues to evolve alongside cultural changes in the world.
