Project Description
Our Mission: To build a luxury fashion brand that celebrates culture, diversity & inclusion.
Sophisticated silhouettes, bold color and a self defining fit. Meaning you deserve a little lexurie. Our Minneapolis based, womenswear brand offers just that.
We design and produce our garments to uplift and encourage women to continue to show up as their authentic selves, regardless of what that may look like to others. When I created this brand I remember thinking to myself, what can I give back to my community? How can I empower and strengthen my community?
Initially I started by hand making each garment in order to ensure the best quality and service. I started with just a few home sewing machines and an idea, turned sketch and then turned into product. Although I could only make a few items per week on my own I still managed to produce some of my BEST pieces. While working a FT position, being a super mom to my 3yr old and pouring back into the community The Lexurie Collection has managed to build. However, maneuvering through the pandemic has proven difficult but not impossible as the dream in my heart has always been bigger than myself. About a year ago I began contracting with a few seamstresses, a pattern maker and most recently a technical designers and BOOM! before I knew it I had a team.
You may be wondering, why are we crowdfunding?
With your help, we can expand even more by partnering with a factory that will produce our biannual collections with the same level of care and attention I've had over the years. This allows us serve more women, pour into more communities and maintain a reasonable price while continuing to offer a high-quality product without the high price tag.
What began as a series of passion projects has developed into my purpose through which I define myself and invite women across the globe to wear the world as I see it. Through our designs we empower communities, uplift women, and pave the way for the ones who will come after us.
Between Financial Institutions being more likely to extend a line of credit or prioritize processing a loan for clients that aren’t POC & the ongoing violence against the Black community undoubtedly places a strain on black women trying to launch and grow their businesses.
THE PROBLEM
There are very few luxury clothing brands that are created and owned by Black women.
When seeking traditional luxury, we default to traditional major labels where:
- The pricing is extremely expensive.
- Sizing and fit are not realistic.
- The profits of these fashion houses are rarely re-invested into communities of color.
THE SOLUTION
The Lexurìe Collection solves this problem by providing a solution that:
- Offers quality luxury apparel at affordable prices.
- Inclusive sizing that reflects real bodies.
- Design elements with various cultural influences.
The funds raised during this campaign will enable The Lexurìe Collection to:
- Resume production of our biannual collections in larger quantities
- Hire a part time business manager
- Secure our mobile pop-up truck
- Cover any pending overhead costs.
