WHO WE ARE
La Botica Verde is an online conscious supermarket that connects local producers to better-paying markets. We support conscious shoppers in their quest to live a greener lifestyle while incentivizing better practices in the field that protect our natural resources.
WHY WE ARE DIFFERENT
We consider ourselves a conscious supermarket because we care about the health of our society and planet. We handpick the best product alternatives so that you don't have to. Our four pillars of sustainability are: local, organic, fair-trade, and zero-waste. We support small, organic producers connect to local markets to incentivize better agricultural practices that generate more income and protect our health and the health of our planet.
HOW IT WORKS
We make it easy to live a green lifestyle! La Botica Verde is a one-stop-shop for all your favorite guilt-free products. Shopping with us is a liberating experience. You can order and pay online, we have a zero-waste commitment so our packaging is biodegradable or returnable, our products are affordable, and we deliver straight to your home!
OUR IMPACT TO DATE
We started in 2017 with 10 clients, 20 organic products, and 1 organic producer. Today, we are working with a network of hundreds of clients and producers offering over 800 different products and have completed more than 2,500 orders to date. Our farmers are earning 2-3 times more by working with us than they did before and families, both in the field and in cities, have access to healthier, more nutritious foods.
NOT CONVINCED YET?
We are not trying to reinvent the wheel here people. By now it is known that conventional agricultural practices can be incredibly detrimental to our environment and our health. La Botica Verde provides a win-win-win solution to this problem. By supporting farmers become land stewards, we can protect our natural resources, enhance farmer resiliency to climate change, have an abundance of nutritious foods that can help combat child malnutrition AND provide better incomes for people living in rural communities. Really, it just makes sense.
ABOUT ME
Hello! If you don't know me yet, my name is Michelle and I am the founder of La Botica Verde. I am a permie, foodie, and nature lover that has worked in international development for over 10yrs. I hold an MBA in Social Entrepreneurship from Colorado State University, bachelor's degrees in Sociology and Latin American Studies from Tulane University, and a CIS certificate in Advanced Project Management. Prior to starting La Botica Verde, I was an independent consultant for NGOs and social enterprises helping them design, fund and implement their projects throughout Latin America. After many years, I decided to combine my passion for sustainable agriculture with my expertise in social entrepreneurship and international development to create La Botica Verde as a way to improve livelihoods through ecological design and management.
WHY WE ARE SEEKING FUNDS
We are seeking funding in order to accelerate the growth of the company and to expand our positive impact. We want to prove that sustainable agriculture can provide a viable path to financial, social and environmental sustainability so that more want to make the transition. This is a lofty goal and we need you, our Green Guardians, to help us get there! Together we can create a better future in which every single organism in our ecosystem thrives.
