Its Demi’s World!

Hello everyone! My name is Duana Gillard and I’m here to share a vision that speaks to the hearts of young girls everywhere—a vision that not only uplifts but also empowers.

At "Its Demi’s World," we create dolls that reflect the beauty and uniqueness of young brown girls, giving them a true representation of themselves in a world that often overlooks their shine.

Inspired by my daughter when she was just three years old birthed Demi’s World.

Demi was born with chocolate skin & a head full of curly hair. I remember at a young age secretly wanting to look different, have different features & hair textures. I decided I wanted to create a foundation on a larger scale, not just within my home but in other households as well to prevent those insecurities & to encourage self love early.

Representation matters. Young girls need to see themselves in the toys they play with. They need to feel valued, beautiful, and confident in their identity. However, the current market still lacks a diverse range of dolls that celebrate mixed races and cultures. This gap not only affects their self-esteem but also their understanding of diversity and inclusion from a young age.

We are excited to announce that we’re expanding our collection of dolls to include even more beautiful representations of mixed races and cultures, ensuring that every girl sees a part of herself reflected in our toys. Our goal is to create a line of dolls that celebrates the rich tapestry of backgrounds, stories, and features that make our world vibrant.

Its Demi’s World experienced significant momentum early on, quickly gaining a presence on Walmart and Amazon. However, the COVID-19 pandemic presented challenges, including skyrocketing shipping costs and delays in inventory replenishment due to long sea shipping times.

Demi is now eight years old and has been involved in the business since she was four, alongside mom and dad. With a small, dedicated team, we have done our best to make our vision a reality.

Through our upcoming crowdfunding campaign, we aim to raise funds to purchase a larger inventory and hire assistance for marketing and content creation to continue spreading our mission of representation and empowerment.
