It's Britta HR
We make ‘work’ work better. We help founders and their teams, by improving the employee journey — from candidate to alumni. Help us grow!

Project Description
It's Britta HR is making work 'work' better.
We help founders and their teams, by improving the employee journey -- from candidate to alumni.
We offer expert counsel and HR tools for improved communication, employee growth, and healthy cultures. Because when work is better, life is better.
We are ready to take it to the next level, and you can help!

Here's the deal.
Any company that employs humans needs resources to manage them (and inspire, and nurture, and grow, and retain them). But many boutique or start-up creative companies lack HR, so their team and their 'employer brand' suffers.

The thing is...
1. Many smaller companies simply can't afford an HR department
...much less a full-time executive 'Head of People and Culture.'
Often, a finance person or an office manager is doing HR administration, but they're inexperienced and doing 'double duty.'
2. Being a 'people person' isn't everyone's superpower
...and that's okay! Founders have their own unique superpowers. Or... they're in tune with their talent but they simply don't have the bandwidth to focus on employee engagement, development, and culture... because they're spread too thin.
3. "HR" is misunderstood or gets a bad rap.
People often don't realize what it encompasses, and that ALL employees can benefit from it. HR is training, HR is wellness, HR is strategic. HR enables, empowers & engages. HR coaches, advises & mentors. HR shapes & leads. HR is an advocate for ALL employees all the time (founders and interns alike!).

That's why we're ...
1. Your in-house/out-of-house HR team
Working with us, you get the value of an in-house 'HR department' for the investment of a single mid-level HR person. We handle it all, from executive-level HR counsel, to meaningful employee engagement, to HR & operations strategies to improve your systems and culture, to the most executional administrative details.
2. Coaching founders and leaders directly
...through their HR challenges, ways to improve the employee journey, and how to strengthen their employer brand.
3. Building tools, playbooks, and programs
...that make the benefits of HR more accessible, relevant, and bespoke for creative companies.
4. Training the next wave of employees, managers, and HR talent
We train with authenticity, empathy, and humor on topics that span from Workplace Harassment to Time Management to being Better, More Mindful, Managers.

We're helping:
Founder-led creative companies:
Advertising, design, digital, branding, strategy, innovation, production, film, tech, fashion, wellness, lifestyle brands, etc.
With under 50-100 people:
They can be start-up or well-established, but typically lack a robust HR department.
And their employees:
We focus on the employee journey, and that means ALL employees -- founders and interns alike.

Who we are:
Britta Larsen has been working for 20+ years at founder-led companies in fashion, advertising, strategy & innovation. She understands employer brands because of her creative background. And she understands employees because of her upbringing*, HR experience, and because it just so happens to be her superpower.
*YALE TO JAIL -- Growing up 1 of 10 kids (somewhere in the middle). Britta shares her story, growing up in a large family (6 adopted from all over the world), and the profound effect it had on her life, values, and career.
Katie Cowden is Britta's right hand woman and they work together with clients. Katie complements Britta's superpowers with strategy, creative writing, and program development. We're excited to grow our team this year, and funding will help that!

Why crowdfunding?
It's Britta HR has been improving the employee experience and building stronger employer brands since launching last summer, and now we're ready to scale. This money will help us expand our offers through our unique IP: training curriculums, turnkey tools, and branded playbooks. We also need to fund marketing so that people and companies know about us. We can't wait to help more founders and employees!

How you can help.

Britta has been leading wellness happy hours in-house over the years (see photo above) and is excited to offer this perk our campaign. For this reward, Britta will come to your office and lead your team through a session of Yoga Nidra meditation.
About Yoga Nidra meditation..
1. An ancient practice with benefits for modern life
2. Scientifically proven to reduce stress and increase wellbeing
3. Completely guided, so anyone can participate/practice
4. Personally beneficial and team-building when done together
5. Cheaper than an open bar happy hour (and free of hangovers/regrets)

This reward has all of the wellness benefits of the "Happier Hour" meditaiton (above), but with an incredible artistic twist. While Britta guides your team through a Yoga Nidra meditation, her Tony Nominated vocalist sister Anika Larsen will provide vocals. The effect is an even deeper and transportive experience--a wellness hour no one will forget.
PS. It's still cheaper than an open bar.

This year, we created our own Anti-Harassment Training program, designed to be relevant and engaging for creative cultures. We're quite proud of it and are excited to offer a reduced fee to anyone who books through our IFW campaign. (Limit: 40 employees per training session.)

It. Is. SO. On.
We will plan, curate, execute, and host a full day of wellness and team building for you and your team. The adventure begins at Grand Central* for a scenic ride along the Hudson River to Cold Spring NY. Once there, your team will enjoy guided hikes, mountain-summit picnics, and curated wellness activities.
With our partners from Ascend Center, unplug, connect, and renew in the Hudson Valley.

(Limit: 15 employees. Email us for exceptions. *Metro-north tickets not included.)

We love creating Employee Handbooks and we'd love to create yours!
What’s in your handbook (or not in it) speaks directly to your employer brand, what you expect, and how you value your employees. In fact, every page, policy and benefit is an opportunity to reinforce your values, support your ambitions, and build culture. We make the handbook process seamless for you, ensuring that the final product is compliant and 'on brand.'
We're offering this exclusively discounted rate for any company who signs up through our IFW campaign.
For anyone who contributes as generously as this, Britta will be your personal HR expert for life. That means you have a direct line to her knowledge, counsel and advice--via phone, text, email--in perpetuity.
Note: excludes recruiting, special programs, legal advice, or liaising with employees (or one other than you).

I'm excited to be a part of The Female Founder Collective -- a network of businesses led by women, supporting women. Their mission is to enable and empower female owned and led businesses to positively impact our communities, both socially and economically.
I've worked directly with founders for nearly 20 years, and since becoming a founder myself, I have even more appreciation for what it takes to make a vision and reality. But too often, founders forget that they are employees too! (Maybe because they're also managers, therapists, janitors, accounts, etc.)
This reward includes a 2 hour on-site work-session to review your business strategy and work through what that means for your employees, culture, and your own self-care.

We're offering exclusive 30 minute "Ask Britta" sessions for the Hey Mama community. This is a unique opportunity to speak to an executive HR expert who's also a working mom of two. She understands the hustle, and knows how to help.
Britta has been an HR executive for some renowned creative/innovation companies in NYC, and she's excited to share some of her knowledge with a community near to her heart. Regardless of your ambitions or where you are on your journey, Britta is excited to help make work 'work' better for you.
Topics include:
WORKING MAMA ADVICE: What to expect when you're expected to work too? Wondering what competitive parental leave looks like? Returning to work? Negotiating/re-negotiating benefits or compensation? Or maybe just looking for advice on juggling commitments?
