Great Expectations Together, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to facilitating social inclusion and employment of individuals with autism and other disabilities in the community setting. We inform, inspire, employ and engage members of the general community to participate in community activities with individuals with special needs to promote values of tolerance, acceptance and support.
Great Expectations Together's Café located in the heart of Narberth, will be the first and only community, nonprofit coffee shop and café on the main line employing local individuals with disabilities.
This nonprofit locally based grassroots effort was launched by Brooke Goodspeed, a highly trained Oncology Nurse Practitioner and PhD candidate, whose path was forever altered by the birth of her son Oliver in 2010 who is diagnosed with both Down Syndrome and Autism.
Brooke has been joined in this effort by a team of mothers, supportive parents, community members and friends, all warriors in the fight to make their children's lives as full and rich as they can possibly be. "We're doing something together here that parents and caregivers across the country can do just the same way," says Brooke. "We're not only fighting for total social inclusion of our kids and family members. To be really meaningful and successful we need to spread this mission as a call to action for a national movement."
Located next to the busy Narberth Train Station, in the historic former MAPE's 5 & 10 store, the GET Cafe is an ideal gathering place for neighbors who call this home and visitors to this traditional Main Line village.
