Grass & Clovers creates clothing, decorative items and art out of recycled, re-purposed and vintage fabrics. Each item is a one of a kind and can be completely customized. Initially started as a small applique tee shirt company for kids, we have slowly grown throughout the years to not only children's clothes, but also clothes for women, home goods, table top items, and custom one of a kind pieces. All using vintage, recycled and re-purposed fabrics- to hearken back to the fabulous 1970's and 1980's quilt and craft movement.
Through the years I have adapted to the times like so many other small businesses- focusing on website sales. Web sales are great, and there is very little overhead, but what's missing from the puzzle is that personal interaction with customers. To put that missing piece back in the puzzle- I started doing pop up shops and trunk shows. After a few years of these events, I had such a great response that there is no doubt this has to be Grass & Clovers' new direction. Every day I get emails and messages from people who want to host a trunk show in their home or shop.
I am asking iFundWomen to help us get our travelling trunk shows off the ground. After my mom/partner/bff passed away in 2013, I became a one woman show- doing everything from design , production and sales to shipping and web design. It's certainly a lot for one person to handle! Given my long familial history in the entrepreneurial retail world , I recognize a laundry list of things need to be put in place to ensure maximum success. First thing, a professionally designed and run website is so necessary for any business. The site is the first place people look to check out your brand. Hand in hand with the website, beautiful photography for our look books, advertising and website campaigns is so important. As a photography "enthusiast", I know my limits, and nothing compares to the real deal! Along with the website and photography, a skilled and savvy PR guru would be a great addition to the Grass & Clovers team- someone not only connected with all the market editors, but also with bloggers and social media channels. Projecting a tremendous leap in sales with multiple trunk shows happening, a production team is necessary to take over the sewing, washing and quality control of each product. Additionally, we need to produce multiple sample sets to plan for simultaneous sales in different locations. necessary in order to free up my time to do the design and sales.
All hosts of these trunk shows will receive a commission off everything they sell- growing the #femaleeconomy one party at a time!
