COVID-19 in Mexico
Before the Novel Coronavirus hit, there were 61.1 million of the 128 million population (CONEVAL; INEGI) living below the poverty line in Mexico. This number will grow drastically if there aren't support sytems put in place for those who live just above the poverty line.
Many women in our community live on a day-to-day economy - ‘I work today, I eat tomorrow’, which means that the lockdowns and restrictions put in place due to Covid-19 has put many of them in very difficult financial situations. A lot of women are still risking their lives to go out and work! 72% of Mexicans are part of the informal workforce, which means they have no guaranteed salaries, or they have small informal businesses running out of their homes.
We have recieved a lot of calls asking for help.

- Many people in our country find themselves in an economic strain so it's not a sustainable or fair option in our estimation, to ask them to give of the very little they have.
- Prices of basic food staples have risen so this is a cost effective option
- It's a safer way to handle & distribute packages during this time - flattening the curve
