Food Sovereignty in High Sierra Ruled by Women!!
Bringing back old ways and trying out new systems in food/fiber/flower/medicinals to employ women outdoors and encouraging creativity
Project Description
- Our Mission is to Cultivate Community and providing safety and wellness and education to our Members, mostly women, usually excluded from Farming, although we include all vulnerable types and welcome enthusiastic and creative types, too. We do not exclude.
- We are creating partnerships with landowners and developing food spaces for high production and healthy soils. The health of the environment should improve with our efforts.
- We are currently focused on the Hyper-Localism of Quincy and surrounding towns. Once we fully prove our methods we can carry that to more areas. Funding should come from our contracts, fresh food and value-added product sales, workshops and events.
- Our organization is Member-Owned and focused on building a fruitful economy around nutrient cycling and healthful employment. We put people, animals and plants to their best uses and respect the natural systems that we've so long ignored
- We are seeking funding because our ideas and concept were subsumed by a group that splintered off and formed a non-profit, artificially ameliorating the problem of Market Gardening being a hobby only, while factually devaluing labor, food prices and tapping all our local support because we are For Profit. When did earning a living have to directly compete with Not-for-Profit? The funding covers costs for our partners to buy and sell their products online. It will cover printing and advertising for new clients.
- Our team consists of three women from different walks of life and ages. We work with youth groups aiding in young women's development, Adult education programs, and the local Domestic Violence support group.
- Backing us is a step in the right direction for long-term workable systems of local food sovereignty and regional resiliency by the labors of women of all demographics with stories to tell. By opening opportunities and giving purpose to nurturers and gatherers our group will flourish with your gracious support and kindness.

- Why Should I Support BROADFORK & Friends?
- We are creative and inclusive and work in a small town where a non-profit is crowding out For-Profit farming. We are seeking to make money and profit from our health and wellbeing!
- If your in a small town, isolated from supporters how can this really make a difference?
- We are lucky to be in a unique location that historically fed its own population and is not the easiest to grow fresh, nutritional produce, flour, eggs and dairy year-round. We have to be innovative and creative! Working on our systems, here and now, is the perfect lab and test ground for replicable processes.
- How am I guaranteed a return? Where is my money going?
- You are pitching in with a group that will not give up on making food and work accessible. This is something that has to happen. We will do what we said and publish what we did with the funding. The end of the season is a time to recover and reset. With our Fall Harvest we will be sending out rewards with our wholehearted thanks!!

We build out pollinator habitats in each of our developed spaces. We also want to find proper homes for honey bee hives, working with the local honey makers. We will help them be healthy and sustainable by only harvesting once a year. Your help is so SWEET!
