Chivona Renee Newsome, the Co-Founder of Black Lives Matter Greater NY, is a civil rights leader at the forefront of the New Civil Rights Movement and former Financial Advisor at New York Life. She has dedicated her adult life to the betterment of her community & our nation as a whole. She is running to represent NY-15 in Congress.
Chivona is ready to bring her activist spirit and coalition-building pragmaticism to DC. She has spent the majority of her professional career being a steward for equity and justice with the people, especially her in her community. She was born, raised, and continues to live in the South Bronx because even in one of the poorest congressional districts in the country, people still deserve compassion, community and care. They deserve a champion. Not professional politicians that spend the peoples time and tax money, but don’t actually serve their needs.
We need to raise $100,000 before the end of March so that we can execute Chivona's ground game in the June primary. This will go towards hiring field staff to knock doors and make contact with individual voters.
There are 720,000 people in the district and 420,000 registered voters. But of those 420,000, only 10,000 will vote in the June 23rd primary election. Meeting these potential voters where they are will allow us to increase this number and win.
