Project Description

Our mission is to foster a sense of community and connection for moms fighting cancer and to ease the financial and emotional hardship for those moms and their families.

Our recipients are mothers, residing in New England, who are struggling with cancer and have school aged children. When the mother in a family is sick, it weighs heavily on the emotional state of the family. It can also result in significant financial difficulties. Our grants are often used to reduce the extreme financial pressure on these families. Our funds can help them to stay out of debt (by covering medical bills), or off-set the cost of a basic need (like child care or transportation).

Our organization takes the funds provided, and uses them as direct support for families. One of our most successful avenues is our Helping Hands program, which provides services like grocery delivery, house-cleaning services, meal delivery, and professional errand runners. Helping Hands focuses on taking some of the stress out of managing a family while fighting cancer.

We also provide small grants that can be used for specific needs. Sometimes that means covering wage losses, child care, medical bills, or transportation to and from treatment centers. Sometimes it means something more emotionally healing, like funding a special experience between a mother and her children.

Our goal as an organization is to make sure these funds increase the happiness and wellbeing of a family in a difficult situation. The amount of money granted to each family is flexible, which allows us to match the resources to each family’s largest need.

Our measurable results come in the form of stable families. Patients and their families go into survivorship less financially strained, keeping credit scores intact, and still in their homes.
