Project Description

THE WHAT

Araminta this is the path home. Four acres nestled in Lenape Mohican territory, a densely wooded North Central Appalachian region of New York State. Our mission is to create a home sanctuary dedicated to serve and assist in the healing of those who aid in the healing of others. Araminta House is a wellness destination concept of The Urban Yoga Foundation. Araminta House(‘Araminta’ means prayer and protector, Harriet Tubmans real name) will provide integrative wellness services to: activists, artists, educators, parents, community leaders, front line workers, organizations and corporations who pursue the cause of social justice and health equity. These service providers, caregivers, and change makers work directly with the most distressed and vulnerable populations. We fill a need to create spaces in the wilderness balancing the inner and outer nature of self as we all continue to serve. Phase 1 FUNDED land purchased. We are seeking funding for Phase 2 which consists of purchasing septic system, water well, land clearing for house.

THE WHO

Urban Yoga Foundation will team up with Mass Design Group and others  to bring communities back together on healing land. We will share skills, learn about regenerative agriculture, community building, health and environmental justice. Supporting leadership and stewardship for the future generations of activist, farmers and social justice educators.

Urban Yoga Foundation (UYF) a 501c3 non profit organization established in 2007 presents its newest venture dedicated to Peace and the Reclaiming of Indigenous Land. Our wellness programs have reached over 500,000 people to date and with this new initiative we plan to expand our focus supporting groups of strong leaders while exploring health equity, wholistic wellness and food justice.

MASS Design Group was founded on the understanding that architecture’s influence reaches beyond individual buildings. MASS Design (Model of Architecture Serving Society) believes that architecture has a critical role to play in supporting communities to confront history, shape new narratives, collectively heal and project new possibilities for the future. They believe in expanding access to design that is purposeful, healing, and hopeful. UYF and MASS building together.

THE HOW

We will raise money through various ways from community members who have benefited from UYF services, to others who will understand the importance of contemplative wellness spaces.  Araminta House will house small groups sharing mindful practices to people who work in activism, building wellness education, equity and social issues that enable people to nourish, practice, restore, and care for each other.

At  Araminta House, UYF seeks to move towards a self-sustaining model — learning and implementing from the Seven Generations Indigenous philosophy which states “decisions we make today should result in a sustainable world seven generations into the future” where our relationship to the land will guide how we nourish, practice, and restore. UYF will provide wellness educators that understand the needs of leadership and the importance of a home space that initiates a unified intention.

THE WHY

Araminta House seeks to convene, gather, and engage in compassionate conversations which unite communities to reconnect and honor our ancestral past through sacred, indigenous practices of being in circle and healing together. We are in a time that humanity is ready to take control of its rightful heritage, and its first civilizations. We are living in the revelation of truth and this is our time to enlighten ourselves and become great in our most basic ways of being.

At Araminta House, UYF will empower individuals who seek support when experiencing trauma, during stressful times, and/or whenever physical or emotional support is needed. Our communities can be made whole again by acknowledging care and healing as collective with the support of a natural environment that encourages  equity and human dignity.

Looking Forward to Creating Wellness Together,

Force Of Nature Team
