My mission is to bring high quality developmental optometry, vision therapy, and neuro-optometric rehabilitation services to the greater Brooklyn community.

Did you know that 1 in 4 children have a learning-related vision problem preventing them from using their eyes and visual system comfortably and efficiently? Unfortunately, problems with tracking, eye alignment, and focusing are not always detected, even during a standard eye exam! Symptoms overlap with those of ADHD, dyslexia, and other learning disabilities, and can make it difficult for kids (and adults!) to reach their full potential.
In this digital age, even subtle problems can lead to eye strain, headaches, and lost productivity over time.
These functional visual problems occur much more commonly and severely after concussion, stroke or neurological disease. Brooklyn Vision Therapy is the only practice offering neuro-optometric rehabilitation therapy in a borough with more than 2 million residents.
BVT is also the first practice in NYC prescribing virtual-reality based vision therapy for home to make therapy more accessible and engaging!
The specialized equipment needed for this therapy is expensive (think VR headsets, 3D televisions, etc); This is a big reason why more VT practices don't exist in NYC, despite huge unmet need. Your help will allow me to provide the highest standard of care. With enough funding, I also hope to offer sliding scale pricing, as vision therapy is rarely covered by medical insurance.

- When is Brooklyn Vision Therapy opening?
- We will be open for business on Feb 1st!
- Does the practice offer regular eye exams?
- Not yet! Comprehensive eye exams require different specialized equipment to assess the health of the eyes. Dr. Bakhru will be offering refractions (a detailed check of the glasses prescription) for now and hopes to be offering primary eye care within a few months.

Five one-to-one 45 minute vision therapy or neuro-optometric rehabilitation therapy with Dr.Bakhru. 45 minute sessions are $175.00 ($875 for five) so this is a $125 savings!
A 60 minute comprehensive assessment of eye teaming, focusing, tracking as well as a detailed refractive analysis (finding the best prescription for your case, including the need for special lenses, tints, prisms, etc). The evaluation helps determine if vision therapy could benefit you/your child. A written report and a detailed invoice for out-of-network reimbursement can be provided upon request.
