Our Mission
Beck&Call Hospitality Bed and Breakfast intends to provide a quality, hospitable setting for our guests to enjoy the many riches of a historic community through unique lodging accommodations. Through our vision, we are #RedefiningHospitality through a cultural lens by offering curated, cultural experiences through events, tours, and local business collaboration. Incorporating southern hospitality with urban flare, Beck&Call Bed and Breakfast will provide a safe space for travelers to the inner city. Visit www.yourbeckandcall.co to see the current events we have lined up!
Lack of representation is what minority travelers often feel when staying in unfamiliar areas. At Beck&Call Bed and Breakfast, we aim to provide a safe space for these travelers to experience a quality, hospitable setting through curated events, cultural programming and exclusive lodging accommodations.
With a heavy focus on community involvement, Beck&Call Hospitality currently has built relationships with community businesses and partners. With the bed and breakfast space, Beck&Call will have the opportunity to offer more than just an overnight stay. Beck&Call Hospitality is a brand that could potentially grow not only in Houston but in surrounding cities and states as well. It is with hopes that Beck&Call can open properties in other communities and consider boutique hotels as an option in those areas. The goal is to have a transferable concept that can be recycled in these other cities, catering to each individual culture.
Our Place
Less than 2% of hotels are owned by african americans and less than 1% of hotels are owned by african american women. It is time to change the narrative! At Beck&Call Hospitality, we plan to incorporate economic development by engaging in the community and working with other businesses in the area. Within our place, we will offer:
Past community events that Beck&Call Events has planned include:
The design will consist of renovating an older modeled home and creating a design aesthetic that coincides with our core values. Each room will celebrate a special theme that is sure to attract guests from all over. This installation into one of the most historic neighborhoods in Houston will attract a niche market including:
- Millennial Travelers
- Frequent/Fluent Houston Tourists
- First time visitors to Houston
- Local Community
It is with these attractions that Beck&Call's goal of #RedefiningHospitality through a cultural lens will shape and create experiences by incorporating curated programming, authentic cuisine, and unique interior specific to Houston and what the city represents: community. Millennial travelers, first time visitors to Houston and retirees are the most important customers as they will value the experience more than the actual stay itself.
Our Goal
Beck&Call Hospitality is seeking $25,000+ in funding to expand and acquire the property for its first bed and breakfast in the community. The funds from this crowdfunding campaign will be utilized for start up costs such as operational and marketing. Operational costs include:
- Expenses
- Working Capital
- Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment
- Acquiring and Remodeling the property
Marketing costs include:
- Advertising
- Signage
- Local memberships
Our Team
Kaylon Beck is a hospitality professional whose work is focused on revitalizing the community through events & programming and offering curated experiences to both travelers and locals who often feel underrepresented when traveling.
During her undergraduate studies at the University of Houston Hilton College for Hotel and Restaurant Management, Kaylon discovered her passion for hospitality and travel. As a student she gained much experience both interning and traveling with companies such as the Hilton, Aramark (Denali Park, Alaska), Landry’s Hospitality Group (Galveston, TX), and Music World Properties managed by Matthew Knowles. Upon graduating from the Hilton College, Kaylon worked for the Hotel & Lodging Association of Greater Houston where her primary task included membership services. Currently, Kaylon works full time in the non-profit sector and owns an event planning company - Beck&Call Events.
While an MBA student at Howard University School of Business, Kaylon decided to pursue her entrepreneurial goal of opening a bed & breakfast within her community. As someone who values both travel and community and is passionate about helping travelers experience the best services throughout their destinations, she believes that this is something that is needed. Through her travel experiences and minimal findings of personable lodging accommodations, she has been able to point out the missing factor in most travelers planning process: the lack of both representation and retrospect.
The Beck&Call Hospitality team is steadily growing! Each individual brings expertise and experience in their careers to the brand and vision. We are excited to launch our first crowdfunding campaign!
