Who We Are

Hi, I’m Tiffany, Founder and Lead Stylist of 29Eleven The Salon.  We are a full-service multi-textured salon that specializes in providing educational and professional healthy hair care for ALL. 

Voted as one of Austin’s Top 5 Salons by the Austin Chronicle two years in a row, we’ve serviced over 5,000 guests over the last 10 years.  We’re not just a start-up with an idea.  We’re a real business with loyal clientele and an ongoing waitlist of clients who eagerly await a reservation with one of our amazing team members.

Where We Started

After leaving the IT industry in 2013, I started off renting one chair in a small salon.  The next year, I hired my first employee.  Every year, my revenue doubled from the previous year.  By year 5, I was renting 3 chairs and had 4 team members.

In 2019, the opportunity arose to secure my first brick and mortar salon.  It was the perfect place to continue growing the business and building my team.  But as our traffic increased, we quickly began to realize that the space, which was originally one side of a residential duplex, was not exactly built to withstand the number of clients we saw daily.  I began to pour thousands into plumbing and electrical repairs. With only 6 parking spaces, we had to strategically space out our clients.  While our current space can’t sustain the flow of a busy full-service salon, we think it would make a great braid and loc bar!

Where We’re Going

Since 2019, we’ve tripled our annual revenue and secured our spot as Austin’s premiere salon for people of color.  Our team-based environment makes us highly sought-after by talented new stylists and our education-focused approach has helped us earn the title of “experts” in textured hair care. 

In the summer of 2023, we secured a lease for a new space double the size of what we have now.  But unfortunately, it must be built from scratch and our estimated costs grew significantly after the architectural phase of the project.  Even still, we look forward to providing a luxurious space that doubles as a safe haven to teach people how to care for hair that was often ignored, especially in many cosmetology schools.

Despite our proven track record, as a Black Woman Owned Business, we constantly face inadequate funding which creates significant obstacles for us.  Black women are awarded less than 1% of venture capital funding and being able to raise debt-free funding is critical to the sustainability of our small businesses for years to come.

• Complete the Construction Phase: Current Construction Estimate: $310,000.00  Construction has already begun and with your help, we are planning a Spring 2024 Grand Opening!

• Onboarding and Training New Team Members: Our new space will allow us to bring on 10-15 more team-based stylists and independent artists.

• Regularly Scheduled Classes: We look forward to hosting in-salon hair care classes for teens, parents, and stylists who would like to learn more about caring for curly hair.
