I currently work as an Occupational Health and Safety Risk Manager for a consulting firm out of Indianapolis, IN. I have a Master’s Degree in Public Health which is the study of the promotion and protection of communities, as opposed to individuals, and we study those communities (where they live, learn, work and play) in order to understand how to help those communities achieve equity and equality. The AwayZone travel app will contribute to the economic health of communities that have historically, and traditionally, been underserved and underrepresented in the U.S. I believe this tool will also contribute to the emotional health, social adjustment, and in some cases, safety of the members of these communities by creating an environment of support, cultural identity, inclusion, and shared knowledge.
