Project Description

It's time to re-imagine what education can be.

We are small, but mighty!

Does your student struggle to get the help they need? Are you feeling like there has to be another way? Are you considering homeschool, but still want socialization and a licensed teacher to help guide you?

Children aren’t failing– but WE are failing when kids feel a sense of dread when we talk about learning! As a former public school teacher, I know that students often cannot receive the support they need when teachers are pulled in too many directions.  I created the Learning Lounge because I want kids to feel self motivated and capable of amazing things.  I want to provide the individualized attention and extra care needed to boost them up to their full potential! I am determined to bring back the joy in learning and provide kids with the teaching strategies that work!

Why Micro Schools?

We believe that classrooms can be flexible, safe, engaging, and purposeful. Micro schools consist of small, multi-age classrooms of approximately 6-8 students. Students are encouraged to work at their own pace, and are provided individualized instruction by a licensed teacher. Classrooms are designed to promote self motivation and teach students to fuel their natural curiosity about the world around them!

Microschools are exempt from government mandated testing and curriculum requirements.  Although state standards are the basis of curriculum decisions, and learning is influenced by traditional methods, we are also free to explore what is appropriate for each child.  By not accepting government funding, the learning coach is able to make decisions that best serve each individual child and can guide them through the learning process at their own pace (speeding up and slowing down as necessary). Microschooling is much more flexible than traditional schooling, and often helps children feel more successful and self motivated.

Personalized Learning Environment

Small class sizes are a key part of our commitment to personalized learning. With fewer students in each class, our teachers are able to give each student the individual attention and support they need to succeed. This means more one-on-one time with teachers, more opportunities for students to ask questions, and more tailored instruction to meet each student's unique needs.

Amazing Community

We are committed to developing lesson plans that are tailored to each student's interests and strengths, creating an environment where learning is exciting and enjoyable. We work hard to build strong, positive relationships with each student in our community. By fostering a culture of respect, collaboration, and inclusivity, we create a safe and supportive environment where every student can thrive.

Flexibility and Creativity

As a registered private school, we are free from the constraints of government mandated curriculum and testing. Teachers are free to explore what is truly best for each child. By not accepting government funding, we can make decisions that serve each student's current needs and guide them through the learning process at their own pace. This flexibility often leads to increased self-motivation and success for students.

Research has demonstrated a positive correlation between small class size and academic achievement. However, the value of class size is often subject to debate when budgets and finances are introduced into the conversation.

Owner and MS Educator

Funding from this project will allow me to create a learning space for my students that is productive and fun, while still keeping tuition costs as low as possible.  I will use startup funds to renovate our small learning space with new flooring, a couch, whiteboards, and tables for working in groups.  I appreciate your donations and your commitment to bringing education back to the creative process it should be!
