Dating is risky business!

     Have you ever met someone in person from an online dating website only to discover he or she greatly misrepresented their age, weight, marital status, or—even worse—hid a criminal or sexual background? Forming new friendships presents personal, financial, and health risks like we’ve never before seen in history!

     If you’re a survivor who has been injured or scammed, we need your help to expose these criminals and help protect others! They hide behind a cloak of secrecy and anonymity today—and neither law enforcement agencies nor online research websites provide us the information we need to identify the dating criminals amongst us! 

Daters beware

     Until now, there have been virtually NO safeguards in place to protect daters. We were shocked to learn NONE of the top 10 paid research websites list restraining, stalking or protective orders as part of their criminal background checks! Nor do they accurately report marriages and divorces, as most states don’t report that information to them. Governmental agencies (including the military) are notorious for denying public access to police records. Even the Freedom of Information Act limits the kinds of information that can be requested, exempting “law enforcement information and records.”

“We, the people” have to act!

     We believe it is vital to the safety of the nearly 55 million Americans engaging in online dating today to establish a single resource to provide information about our partners’ criminal and marital history to enable us all to make educated choices about dating relationships … and take steps to protect ourselves from harm.    

     You’re A Match is creating the first-ever, interactive background research website that allows survivors everywhere to participate in self-policing Internet dating sites. Survivors from all over the country can now download legal documents such as police reports, criminal complaints, arrest records, convictions, lawsuits, depositions, transcripts, court orders, judgments, and public records relating to sexual assaults, workplace sexual harassment, domestic violence, and romance scams. We will combine the records and create a comprehensive, digital profile of each individual and make the documents searchable by name(s), facial recognition and criminal activities to registered users. 

     By creating a web application that combines the power of technology and user input, we will revolutionize online dating. We will save lives, make dating safer and more enjoyable, and forge systemic changes in how individuals converse with each other and in our government’s role to better protect us from dating violence.

THE PROBLEM?

People can find out more about their dog sitter from online mobile apps than they do about the man or woman they go out with from an online dating site.  

1. There are no credible resources for people to verify who they are on a date with.
2. Dating sites are boasting that they are “verifying their users”; however, they are only verifying the person LOOKS like their photo or that they use Facebook.  They are NOT verifying their name against any form of government identification.  
3. Sites that allow users to run background searches are expensive. You have to know the person’s real name and other information to find accurate information.  The information displayed doesn’t necessarily help you make any decisions on whether you want to date the person or not.
4. Other sites are allowing people to post anonymously without any fact to back up their claims.  In addition, the information once placed on the internet will not come off no matter if it’s true or not.
5. There are people who are dating in multiple states with multiple as restraining, dating and stalking orders, etc. and no way for a person to know prior to going out with them.
6. Civil crimes or lawsuits would not show on any background search.
7. Many states and counties do not share information when it comes to restraining orders, stalking, dating or domestic violence, etc.
8. Law enforcement does not have the resources to effectively address the magnitude of this issue.

THE SOLUTION?

1. Create a FREE searchable database where men and women can anonymously upload “facts/documents” about people they meet.  A “CARFAX” report but for people.
2. Our site will not allow commentary- only verifiable facts such as police reports, restraining orders, convictions, etc.  It’s about education, not vindication.  While the user creating the profile may be anonymous, our site will verify their identity using the latest technology to hopefully deter false accusations and documents.  Cooperation with law enforcement will be an absolute.
3. Men and women can “self-verify” on our site prior to online dating. By creating their own profile and letting You’re a Match verify their identity- NOT just that they match their online photos, they can add credibility to their dating profile and give their potential dates peace of mind.
4. As multiple people add new information, the site will begin to “link” information like addresses, photos, names, etc. to build a dating profile for others to search.
5. The site will be a user interface website and mobile application like Wikipedia, Gas Buddy, UBER, AirBNB, Rover, Waze, etc.
6. Using the latest technology, our web and mobile applications can build profiles based on multiple entries thereby not allowing people to move undetected from state-to-state committing civil and criminal activities.
7. Men and women who have “Me Too” or Romance Scam stories can upload their documents to back their claims and finally get the closure they’ve been looking for.

OUR TARGET MARKET/AUDIENCE:

1. Anyone in the dating community 
2. People using online dating applications (single, separated and divorced individuals)
3. Friends/family members of people who are looking for more information on who their friend/child is dating or who have information on someone (like stalking) they would like to upload to a profile.  The information posted could save a life.
