The mission of The Youni Company is to provide sustainable, leakproof and attractive underwear for everyone, regardless of age or gender. We also have a strong social mission to provide support to our Youni Community and to give back in a radical way.
The Youni team is founded by two talented and tenacious women. Both single moms, Anna Steele and Tereson Dupuy met while working for a short time together at a senior care company. Both of them knew almost instantly that they would be working on a much bigger project together one day. Tereson is the inventor of FuzziBunz Diapers, a product that changed the landscape of reusable diapers by making them more modern and appealing to today's parents. Anna has a background in operations and has been a key player in growing and running multi-million dollar businesses. Both women are committed to social change, not only with their products, but also within the lives of the Youni Community through education, activism, support and inspiration.
1 in 3 women of all ages and 1 in 10 men over the age of 60 are experiencing incontinence in some form. Their current solutions include annoying lifestyle adjustments or disposable diapering products... which, by the way, 80% of individuals with incontinence issues say they absolutely do not want to wear. Can you blame them?! There is also a dire need for sustainability within consumer products. Adult disposable diapering products make up 7% of all landfill waste, and that number is rapidly on the rise as our population continues to live longer and healthier lives.
Youni Underwear spans four key markets. The first and most obvious is the baby boomer population. There are 22.5 million people in this age bracket within the U.S. alone that are experiencing incontinence on a daily basis. Middle-aged and menopausal women make up another large segment of the population with 15.5 million experiencing stress incontinence due to hormonal challenges and the changes due to childbirth. Since Youni Underwear are so amazing at protecting against leaks, we can also support the feminine hygiene market which includes 56 million menstruating females. Lastly, there is a niche market of 4 million pregnant and postpartum mothers within the U.S. who are experiencing incontinence during pregnancy and who also have a need for our products while their bodies are healing from childbirth.
Youni Underwear are REAL, washable underwear with built-in absorbency to protect against leaks from light incontinence, menstruation and even full bladder leakage. They are fashionable underwear that allows for a little extra self-confidence, regardless of what is happening down below. Our patent-pending design ensures a slim and stay-dry effect, especially for heavy needs. Our products are treated with anti-wicking and anti-odor technology to prevent the growth of bacteria which causes odor. We have a strong focus on attractive and fun designs, as well as comfort.
We have been self-funding for a year! We've also spent the last 3 months in fundraising mode... which, let us tell you, there is no real FUN in FUNdraising! Did you know that less than 3% of all venture capital in the U.S. goes to companies founded solely by women? We
think KNOW that this is unacceptable, and we plan to help change this throughout our success with Youni. We are seeking $10,000 in contributions to help us launch this product and this company to make the impact that we know we can make in this world. The contributions will be spent on final product testing and completing our first production order. We will continue looking for the right financial investor for everything that follows, and to help us keep up with the demand that we anticipate.
