Our Project Mission
YANY Beauty is a cosmetic brand and beauty retailer. Our mission is to be a household name in the beauty industry through our own cometic and skincare line while showcasing local beauty brands to support our communities.
According to a reports in 2017 Black consumers spent over $473 million on haircare each year, but owned less than 1% of the market share. YANY Beauty is a black-owned cosmetic brand and beauty retailer, also representing underrepresented brands online and in store.
Opportunity to Grow
While black-business owners are starting to claim their space in the beauty industry, there are still only a handful of black-owned beauty supplies in the country and fewer black-owned cosmetic brands. YANY Beauty is in a place for rapid growth. For example a black-owned beauty supply store opened in Nashville in 2019, and reportedly made $50,000 in the first 3 hours. Beauty is a multi-billion dollar industry and trends are not decreasing.
Our main goal is to create a beauty space for and by black women, while also celebrating the uniqueness of all cultures. We will embrace under represented brands, giving them the space to be seen and heard as well.
Here’s what customers can expect:
- Products that they want
- Vegan and cruelty-free cosmetics and skincare
- High-end hair care products
- The best local brands
- The best national hair and skincare brands
- Modern décor
- Friendly and welcoming service
- Conveniences such as online and curbside ordering
How You Will Help
We are seeking funding because, without it, our reality will be slow. Even though women are starting businesses at a rapid rate, far surpassing their male counterparts, they are still disadvantaged due to a lack of opportunity. Women are far less likely to reach sustainable growth, get adequate funding, or create a business that truly supports their families, employees, and communities. We want to be a part of that change.
We will spend the funding in the following ways:
- $24,000 annual lease and utility payments
- $3,975 occupation tax and insurance
- $10,000 retail furnishings
- $10,000 startup supplies and inventory
- $500 Chamber of Commerce dues
- $2,500 marketing and promotions
- $1,000 open house fees
- $575 licensing
