Project Description

“Each bottle of Wise Mouth Tea is filled with a thousand years of wisdom.”

                                                           Lei Nichols, Wise Mouth Founder

Born in China and brewed in Boston, Wise Mouth Teas blends the healing properties of Chinese herbs, flowers and fresh fruit in a thirst quenching beverage that renews and reinvigorates body and mind.

Wise Mouth Founder & Owner Lei Nichols hails from a long line of traditional Chinese tea makers. In fact, Lei first learned to cultivate her craft under the guidance of her grandparents in the mountain village of Shanzui. For centuries, the residents of Shanzui have relied on local teas made with native plants and flowers to heal the body and promote good health.

As a young girl, Lei spent her days collecting chrysanthemum leaves and drying them in the sun to be used as part of a healing tea. Lei drank her grandmother’s chrysanthemum tea every day and every day she grew a little stronger. “I remember sitting in my grandmother’s village home drinking flower tea in the light of the full moon, listening to grandfather quote Buddhist truths… Behind his voice, there was the sound of my great-grandfather’s snoring coming from our rice leaf house.”

Lei eventually moved to the USA but kept her cherished childhood memories and family recipes alive by teaching her own daughters to make the family tea. As a high school Chinese teacher outside of Boston, Lei would watch her students drink soda and energy drinks filled with preservatives and refined sugar. This broke Lei’s heart. Growing up in Shanzui, drinks were designed to repair the body, not damage it. Lei dreamed of creating an alternative beverage for her students that was 100% natural, with no concentrates, no preservatives, and no artificial sweeteners.

Lei began brewing and sharing her family tea with her students. Wise Mouth Teas was born.

Wise Mouth offers seven different flavors based on mixing the traditions of her childhood with flavors that suit an American taste. Teas include Long Life Ginger Pu-erh Tea, Happy Orange Ginger Tea, Chrysanthemum Dragon Rose, Mountain Pear Beverage, Chrysanthemum Romance Tea, Cranberry Green Jasmine Tea, and Pumpkin Spice Oolong Tea. All are based on traditional Chinese medicine. All Wise Mouth Teas are handmade in small batches in our Boston kitchen. All-natural ingredients are the backbone of The Wise Mouth brand.

Rose Tea

Rose flowers, especially buds, contain a high concentration of vitamin C which by far surpasses the levels in fresh fruits like orange, tomato, and grapefruit. This makes it a great herbal tea to maintain a healthy and radiant skin, and to fight off colds and flu in a more natural way.

Rose flower herbal tea is a great way to relax after a busy day at office, as it can calm the central nervous system, reducing the chance of depression and anxiety. Dried rose tea can also benefit victims of chronic fatigue, insomnia and nervousness when drinking one or two cups per day.

Rose tea can be consumed as a healthy caffeine-free alternative to coffee or tea, to curb hunger pangs and enhance weight loss.

Chrysanthemum tea

Chrysanthemum tea can help to induce calmness. The powerful antioxidants and minerals present in the tea can help your body better regulate itself and eliminate unnecessary stress hormones in the blood.

Chrysanthemum tea can clear up skin irritation, redness, and chronic conditions, such as eczema and psoriasis. It also helps to generally reduce the signs of aging, as well as wrinkles, acne, and blemishes, thanks to the antioxidant content of the flowers. Chrysanthemums are said to improve vision.  Can help with dry eyes, blurry vision, etc. Great for long nights working on the computer that can cause stress and irritation to your eyes.

Great for dehydration and regulation of body temperature.  If you feel too hot or have dry mouth or migraines from dehydration, chrysanthemum tea can help soothe these problems away.
