Meet our founders

Melissa Narvaez (she/her) is a marketer and career coach who went from working with oil cargo ships in a small town in Venezuela to running regional marketing at one of the top software companies in the world. As a Latina and globe trotter, Melissa is very passionate about translating her personal experiences into advice and help other Latinxs advance their career, and see obstacles as opportunities for growth.  She is currently a Sr Regional Marketing Manager at Salesforce in NYC. She has eleven years of experience in B2B software sales and marketing, going from account development in Latin America to being responsible for creating marketing programs that accelerate & generate new business in the U.S.

Noelia Rodriguez' motto is "I make things Happens". She has over 15 years of experience in the IT commercial area, with emphasis on Telco, ERP, and CRM. Highly proactive, creative, with strong analytical, leadership and team management skills.  She's a happy person, kind and loves challenges. She's the captain of the Venezuelan Outrigger Canoe delegation in Argentina, and in her entrepreneur side she's co-founder of the Fundacion para Adicciones 90 days. Her latest project is co-founding and growing Venezolanas in Tech.

Daley Medina is a marketer specialized in Digital transformation: educational platforms & marketing for SMEs, entrepreneurs, and educational projects. She enjoys inspiring people to transform conservative ideas into "innovation triggers", encouraging them to adopt new tools in a simple way. Her career path includes managing the cultural department of the Venezuelan Cultural Secretary, where she was also National Director of Dance. Her experience in tech goes from business development and marketing, for both small to midsize businesses in Latin America, as well as leading the Google for Education project for Google Argentina. Today she helps entrepreneurs, SMEs & communities take ownership of technology to accelerate and optimize the path to stand out, achieve conversion and growth goals with her digital marketing agency: Che Posicionamiento Web.

Venezolanas in Tech is a non-profit community of Venezuelan women who are passionate about technology. Our mission is to inspire and empower women to build a career in tech, grow their networks and professional opportunities.

Is ViT only for Venezuelan women?

Who is Melissa Narvaez Arteaga?

Melissa Narvaez Arteaga was born and raised in Venezuela and is also half-Nicaraguan. She also calls Morocco, Spain, and Argentina home—all places she lived before making her way to San Francisco, and now New York. As a Latina and globe trotter, Melissa is very passionate about translating her personal experiences into advice and help other Latinxs advance their career and see obstacles as opportunities for growth.

She is a marketer by day and an enthusiastic career coach by night. She is currently a Sr Regional Marketing Manager at Salesforce in NYC. She has eleven years of experience in B2B software sales and marketing, going from account development in LATAM, to being responsible for creating marketing programs that accelerate & generate new business.

She founded ViT as a way to connect more Venezuelan women with opportunities in the tech industry, especially the thousands of women who have had to migrate due to the country's political, economical, and social crisis. Being a migrant herself, who came from working with oil ships in a small city in Venezuela and was able to break into tech in Buenos Aires, she wanted to create a platform that would help more women do the same.

Why should I donate?

ViT has been 100% self-funded since its foundation less than two years ago. Melissa, Noelia, and Daley have built the community from the ground up, creating educational programs to inspire and empower other women. We would use your donation to grow our operations, invest in tools and systems, and grow our programs to reach more women.

Who is on your team?

The ViT team consists of an amazing, diverse group of women and all volunteers! We consider ViT a non-hierarchical organization, so we consider the whole community a team, but we call our "managing team" the members who dedicate some time to helping us run our programs and operations. Our team consists of Melissa Narvaez (Founder & Programs), Noelia Rodriguez (Co-founder & Employment Program), Daley Medina (Co-founder & Strategic Partnerships), Flor Jerez (Mentorship Program), Maritza Lozano (Mentorship Program), Gabriela Soto (Web Developer), Isbel Delgado (Content), Maria Jose Maldonado (Accessibility Tester), Brendys Galvez (Educational Programs), Lynette Gomez (Educational Programs)
