And we're back...2020 Perfect Vision 2.0

First and foremost I want to thank everyone who has been on this journey with me, directly or indirectly. Back in March I issued a letter to my supporters letting them know that due to COVID, the 2020 Perfect Vision campaign was placed on hold. At the time I had no idea what was going to happen or if the project was even possible given the nature of what we are trying to accomplish.

Over the last couple of weeks I have battled with myself, and God, on whether or not I should pick it back up. This project has pulled at my heart and a global pandemic doesn't change the mission and the goals I have set out. So with that being said, the 2020 Perfect Vision Campaign is back in the works slated to launch NEXT MONTH! (Lord willing)

So where are we now...

  • I am currently working with Mobile Care Chicago who is graciously allowing us to utilize their vehicle and expertise in the space to provide the vision screening and eye exam services. The cost to rent their mobile unit is $1,000/day (which is amazing considering the fact that it includes: gas, insurance, the driver's salary and the vehicle it self).
  • They are also allowing us to wrap the vehicle to be able to include our own graphics, imagery, etc. My vision is to have local youth artist commission a piece for the bus (more info on that to follow)
  • I'm in communication with an eyewear company and eye care provider. My hope is that they can come on board to assist. (Can't say much yet, but my fingers are crossed that I'll have good news soon)

So what do I need...

  • Prayers! From the beginning I have been vocal about feeling like this project was placed on my heart. I truly felt and still feel that God called me to this. It has been an interesting journey, but one that I would not change
  • Optometrists! I need doctors who are willing to donate their time to service families in the community. Preferably Black and Brown, as I want the kids in these communities to identify with people who look like them. People they can see their selves being in the future. Email [email protected] if you have recommendations.
  • Financial Support. There are a few costs that I can't avoid. I am grateful for the funds that have be raised to date. I recently re-opened the campaign and lowered the goal to account for the changes in the project. We are no longer revamping our own vehicle and it the campaign is no longer a 3-month tour. (We're looking more like 3 weeks give or take).
    • Vehicle Lease Cost: $1,000/day
    • Vehicle Wrap: $4,700
    • Graphic Designer: $500
    • Photography + Videography: $3,000

I am monitoring the state and city's recommendations and mandates as it relates to COIVD. Our number one priority is to ensure everyone is safe. With the city re-opening we are optimistic that the campaign can and will launch in August. And if not, we'll re-evaluate again. We WILL bring vision to communities in need one way or another. The mission and the goal is the same, the process just may look a little different. Thank you for your prayers, kind words, connections, recommendations, and insight. I truly appreciate it!

With gratitude,

Dinai
