Umoja Grocer
Eliminating Food Deserts through Food + Tech

Project Description

OUR SOLUTION
To create a last mile distribution channel for B.I.P.O.C. supported food suppliers.

IMPACT & COMMUNITY REWARDS PROGRAM
Carver's Produce micro store is specifically placed in locations of high traffic, making it readily accessible for consumers on the go and with no transportation to the grocery store in food deserts. However, that's not the best part, here are the following benefits our community grocer provides:
-
Increase Access to Affordable Food Products
-
Strengthen Public Health in Communities of Color
-
Supply the increasing demand in Black, Afro-Carribean, and Halal Products.
-
For every $75 spent, 5% goes back into the community through reward programs, scholarships, and micro-grants.
-
Together, we will Build A National Network of B.I.P.O.C. Owned Markets

OUR NEXT STEPS
We have five (5) test markets across the United States ready to install our Micro-Stores. However, in order to effectively install, stock, and convert unit into micro store we have to purchase the equipment and inventory for $50,000.00. The remaining $25,000 raised will help offset our operating expense for one year by purchasing the software and toolkit needed for minority suppliers to scale into retail markets.
WAYS YOU CAN HELP:
