mosaiceye’s mission is to cultivate womxn’s creative self-actualization and empowered interconnection. We do this by leveraging mixed media art, education + radical self-reflection in community circle.
The Yin + Yang Tour for Self-Compassion & Discipline will bring a full-day workshop to various cities in the U.S. as well as South Africa and Canada. It’s purpose is to develop an empowering balance of both self-compassion and self-discipline for self-identified women with expressive arts, psychological-education, meditation and visualization and sound healing.
While we’ll learn tangible practices and tools in both mindful compassion and empowered discipline, we’ll also apply these practices in community as we deepen our relationships to self and others.
We’ll stop in 10 cities (Denver, Berkeley, Los Angeles, NYC, D.C., Chicago, Nashville, Philadelphia, Johannesburg and Toronto). In each city, we’ll welcome up to 30 womxn to participate in the workshop. Therefore, this event will directly and intimately affect over 300 womxn, and so many more indirectly as each womxn takes what she learns into her life and interactions.
Mosaiceye has a network of over 50,000 followers on instagram from around the world who we’ll share this event with and who we continually share resources with related to compassion, discipline, empowerment and wellness.
Additionally, we’ll be partnering with local sound healing practitioners and womxn-owned businesses to support and spread awareness of their missions.
Research has proven that self-compassion serves as a buffer not only to depression and anxiety, but also to dissatisfaction and stress during difficult transitions, by helping to decrease brooding and ruminating thoughts.
It’s also been shown that self-compassion is intrinsically motivating, and self-kindness and mindfulness, important aspects of mindful self-compassion, promote proactivity and empowered action.
There’s growing evidence to support the effects of self-compassion on body image, eat disorders, pain, trauma, interpersonal concerns, and overall well-being, satisfaction, happiness and kindness.
Womxn will walk away from this engagement with expanded community and new connections, tangible, practical and enjoyable tools for self-awareness + empowerment, awareness on balancing yin + yang energy with kindness and motivation, additional reference resources to expand and deepen the wisdom, and a gifted piece of visually affirming art.
The agenda includes the following:
- Games and play
- Education on the science + impact of self-compassion, motivation, empowered discipline and self-parenting
- Guided meditations + visualizations
- Sound healing experiences
- Expressive arts in drawing, writing, movement, singing
- Pair and small-group sharing and witnessing
- Art supplies + thoughtful prompts
Our team consists of a lead facilitator, Chetna Mehta, who will be present at all events; a researcher, Nadia Yousuf, who is contributing her time and effort to organizing the tour; in each city, we’ll have a co-facilitating sound healer to contribute their soothing and energizing tones to the engagement, and we have a number of volunteers who are spreading the news of this event!
We’re seeking funding to help with the following:
- Travel to and lodging in various cities
- Generous honorarium for sound healing practitioners
- Visual Affirmation art gifted to each participant
- Light refreshments (tea, fruit, nuts) for each event
We appreciate any and all donations from $5 to $500!
Thank you so much for your consideration, potential donation and for sharing this with others in your community.
