“This is one of the most unique, distinctive, and innovative new coffee companies in America right now” -Sprudge Magazine
Three Keys Coffee (Three Keys Coffee | Craft Roaster | HTX) is a craft coffee roastery based in Houston, TX that offers a multi-sensory coffee experience through taste, sight, and sound. We explore this connection between art, music, and coffee through:
Three Keys takes its inspiration from Jazz, deriving its name from the valves of the trumpet—an instrument of simplicity that uses just three keys to produce notes across a creative and complex range of tonal outputs. Three Keys speaks a language that’s multicultural, inclusive, and approachable to anyone who is willing to slow down and share a cup. You don’t need to be a connoisseur to participate.

Literally a mom-and-pop operation, Three Keys Coffee is owned and operated by Tio and Kenzel Fallen, a husband-and-wife duo who juggle parenthood, entrepreneurship, and full-time day jobs, all while keeping the music alive and the coffee always fresh-roasted.

Both jazz and coffee are unifying across demographics and their histories offer us stories of resilience and freedom. If the quintessential expression of freedom in the musical sense is improvisation, then jazz exudes this in a most resonant form. Consider the fact that early jazz vinyl recordings were among the first means of bringing aspects of a live club into the home. This allowed for wider audiences to hear and enjoy the sounds of the time. In turn, jazz was able to gain huge popularity and develop its voice and impact.

Our desire at Three Keys Coffee is to make “specialty” coffee more inclusive and accessible to those who may have been alienated or disregarded by the industry—either as consumers or as contributors—thereby helping to amplify the voices of the marginalized. We intend to promote an open community around coffee by sharing a story of the connection and freedom which coffee can foster, through the lens of jazz music and its artfully boundless expressions.

Funding Ask:
We currently operate our business out of a small, shared commercial kitchen space and have unfortunately had to turn down growth opportunities due to our space and capacity limitations. We have identified a new, larger space to move into and so this funding will directly support our growth. The capital will be used towards our buildout needs, allowing us to share more melodic roasts with the masses.
