Frequently Asked Questions:
Does "Textured Hair Matters" mean that straight hair doesn't?
No. Every American stylist is already classically trained on how to "slay" straight hair. So, we simply believe millions of Americans (of all races) who have textured hair also deserve stylists that are confident in working with their hair. We also believe the stylist who have textured hair deserve training that reflects them, just like women with straight hair have had for over a century.
Does CosmoSafe only serve black beauticians?
No. While CosmoSafe is owned by black women, our business is focused on the future of work & learning in beauty for everyone. We fill gaps in beauty education to serve all beauty professionals. However, we also recognized that black women and people with textured hair are currently struggling with content, access, affordability, and legislation that harms them right now. This negatively impacts salon clients with textured hair who struggle finding stylists in the beauty industry. Our current project, The #TexturedHairMatters Campaign, can provide a viable solution to this problem. CosmoSafe also has a "Beauty-preneurship" Course and other curriculums that we'll launch soon.
Do you believe in “de-regulating” the cosmetology industry to make room for textured hair curriculums?
No. Regulations are important in beauty for public health and safety. However, we believe the current cosmetology market is OVER regulated and misses the market when it comes to fair, equitable, diverse, and inclusive legislation and content.
One day, we hope the beauty industry will take notes from colleges and use a credit based system, with required minimum credits in health and safety skills. This would allow people to take specialized artistic paths that prepare them for different types of work available in beauty.
Are you an accredited education institution?
CosmoSafe is an early stage education technology firm that develops and publishes printed and digital content and programs for individuals, organizations, companies, and schools to use. Much like a textbook, accreditation isn’t required for our material to be impactful in the market right now. States can recommend our program, schools are allowed to use our content, and individuals can complete self directed training without accreditation until we gain accreditation.
Will I be considered an equity investor in CosmoSafe? If so, what’s my return?
The iFundWomen platform prohibits financial incentives, like equity and ownership in a company. The process is designed to give women the same, debt free, opportunities that men have had for years in the VC space. By contributing you’ll be participating in our early stage “friends & family round” of funding to help us get to the next level and be able to access VC funding in the future. Your support is viewed more as a grant.
