The Fit In's mission is making quality health & wellness accessible to underrepresented communities. There's work to be done.

Across the country, largely black and brown communities  experience disparities in health. Bed-Stuy and east Brooklyn have long suffered from these inequities. East Brooklyn neighborhoods (Bed-Stuy, Brownsville, East New York) suffer from obesity and hypertension at higher rates leading to some of the top killers in these communities, including cancers, heart disease, and diabetes.

Boutique fitness studios have become the only growth segment in an otherwise stagnant gym industry. Since last year, health club industry profit is up 8% to just over $32 billion, according to the International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association. In 2017, boutique brands made up 40% of the market, up 121% in four years, compared with 18% growth for big gyms. Yet you can hardly find one anywhere in East Brooklyn. At the start of 2020, 14 places offered fitness classes. Two of them were yoga studios that have now closed, three are martial arts studios, one is the local YMCA, and three are The Fit In.

The Fit In is a wellness brand providing local communities quality fitness through its boutique studio locations and an e-commerce platform offering health food products and attire to complement their health & fitness journey.

Covid has ravaged many businesses. Though funding has come through to support certain industries, the fitness industry hasn’t received any support. Our goal is to ensure The Fit In remains open for when our community is allowed to return. We are not just fitness studios but we are also a place for relationship building and social gathering. We are an important part of the community and want to make sure we continue to provide that support.
