Who We Are: 

As 2 female entrepreneurs and sisters-in-law from Nebraska, Sarah Rasby and Andra Rasby recognized a gap in the industry and developed a solution - enter Sub Guru. They sought out not only to design a software that addressed their needs and those of fitness studio owners but also to create a social impact company. Sub Guru believes that strong communities have the power to make an incredible impact. We are committed to giving back to our collective communities. Our current initiative is to support female entrepreneurship, helping them to realize their fullest potential and business aspirations.

The Problem. Our Solution: 

The Fitness industry is booming - boutique studios, health clubs, and corporate gyms are popping up everywhere. Fitness studio owners and managers work endlessly trying to balance numerous responsibilities that come with running a business. Most of the day is spent managing teachers and support staff, interacting with clients, teaching classes, managing the budget, and promoting the business.  

Financially, fitness studios face an interesting dynamic. According to a 2016 Yoga Alliance study, overhead cost represents 1/2 of studio owners' income. The added financial cost owners have for marketing, financials and other services can be very expensive. There is an essential need to deliver quality service to membership-based businesses. If members are pleased, they stay loyal to the business and they will be your best marketers and clients. 

While many software management companies exist to make running those businesses easier, they neglect a universal need of studios with instructor lead classes. Time consuming back and forth texts, emails, and phone calls waste time, money, and patience.  

Studio owners, staff, and instructors want an easy, streamlined, and digital solution when a sub is needed. Sub Guru provides an efficient method for handling the instructor substitution process.  

Our Mission: 

Sub Guru provides clients with a reliable management solution, relieving them of the common burden of finding substitute instructors for classes. Whether you need to find a sub 90 days out or 2 hours before a class, Sub Guru will match every class with the appropriate instructor. 

Our Purpose: 

Our tools empower studio owners threefold: 

1. Provide consistent high-quality customer service through thoughtful communication. 

2. Develop well-informed internal systems from trackable data. 

3. Grow community and enhance team collaboration. 

How it works: 

Instructors or Studio Managers log into Sub Guru, find their class, and select “Request A Sub”. Our system will send a push notification to the designated instructor group assigned. Subs are able to accept or decline a request via the Sub Guru app. Sub Guru currently links seamlessly with the MindBody Platform and instructor changes are made automatically!

Development: $25,000 

• To take Sub Guru to the next level, we will be adding new features (data matrix, management tools and back end adjustments) to the app. These key features are what are current clients are asking for!  

Getting the Word Out: $10,000 

• Enhancing our website and search engine optimization  
• Attending fitness conferences to engage with potential users  
• Hosting pop-up events for owners and instructors to learn more about Sub Guru. Inviting local vendors to highlight food and beverages.
