Sixth & Baker, LLC
Based in Red Lodge, Montana, Sixth and Baker is an important and effective resource in the mental health/personal growth arena. Our line of day planners & journals are viewed as valuable tools by our customers and by the mental health care providers who sit on our Advisory Board. Sixth and Baker aims to produce books that support people while they navigate the path of mental health recovery and personal development/growth.
In Sixth & Baker's first year of business one book was available: The Planner by Sixth and Baker. It was a hybrid day planner/journal which was designed to help people stay committed to their recovery from trauma. The planner was well received by the mental health community and now, thanks to the guidance of our Advisory Board, Sixth and Baker is preparing to launch a varied collection of guided journals. Each new book will be aimed at a specific recovery hurdle ranging from addiction, postpartum depression/anxiety, grief, and more.
Sixth & Baker Founder
Creator/Founder, Nicole O'Shea is a rebel in the world of mental health awareness and an advocate for her fellow recovery warriors.
Nicole is a powerful voice for mental health awareness/advocacy and the owner/founder at Sixth & Baker, LLC. Nicole's willingness to open up about her own journey and her ability to connect with people in their dark hour tends to empower people by evoking hope and accountability. She speaks openly at conferences, workshops and private gatherings to inspire other people embark on their journey. Nicole poured her heart and soul into the first Sixth & Baker book but never intending for it to become a business. She designed it as a therapy-support tool to keep her accountable during her own walk through counseling/healing. From there it blossomed organically into the business it is today.
While the seed was planted by Nicole she knew early on she could not build this company alone. From the beginning she has been supported by an incredible team - all of whom believe in the Sixth and Baker mission. Without the commitment and hard work of these people, Sixth and Baker never could have grown to it's current position in the market. A very special THANK YOU goes out to everyone who played an important role in Sixth & Baker's development and success: First and foremost Paul Otsu, who said YES when so many others said NO. To him we owe our entire start. Without Paul that very first book never would have made it to print. And to everyone else who played a role along the way: Sara O'Hara, Anna Prinkki, Bree Dean, Arien Goss, Kelcey Fixen, Dr. Brenda Roche, Katie Wolverton, Erin Bratsky, Christine Crago, James Yelich, Mark and Kim Eder, Myrna Rue, Wendy Jordan, Laura Bailey, Julie Koerber, Daron Olson + The Rimrock Mall Team and everyone who cheered us on from the get-go.
Our iFundWomen Campaign
We are raising funds on iFundWomen to bring the manufacturing and production of our products to Red Lodge, Montana. When we started our company we were unable to locate a U.S. manufacturer who was able to accommodate our production specifications. While we are grateful to our partners in China, who gave us our start, our goal is to be a self-sustaining manufacturing operation. We dream of a business that offers customization options for our clients, is eco-friendly and contributes to the local economy through material purchases and job openings.
Our goal is to have a fully operational assembly line in Red Lodge, Montana by October 1, 2020. The benefits of moving production home are:
- Order customization options for our customers.
- Provide job & internship opportunities locally.
- More control of materials being used and the ability to incorporate planet-friendly options.
How will funds be spent?
1. The largest portion of funds will be spent on purchasing the equipment needed to build the assembly line.
2. Remaining funds will go towards building our space. Historically, Sixth and Baker has been an internet-based business, mostly operated out of a home office. Moving production to Montana will require a location for manufacturing and also warehouse space for storing.
