Have you ever stop to think about what happens to all of that plastic when you no longer have use for the product that it contains? Silky Sol Vegan Aesthetic Blends, established in Houston Tx, in 2015 by Rokisha Martin a Master Herbalist and healthy hair enthusiast, is a health-conscious Beauty Brand that is 100% funded & founded by a black woman for those whose hair defies gravity and whose skin absorbs the sun!

Silky Sol's is a health-conscious beauty brand whose sole mission is to provide organically blended restorative and corrective hair care products solutions, specifically to manage and repair textured, curly, and combination hair. Our products are formulated and powered by plants to be hypoallergenic and eco-friendly. Silky Sol products are composed either in liquid form, oil form or a combination of both, therefore; we rely on plastic packaging for sustainability. Even though I am a small batch business, our sells exceed over 5000 bottles of beauty care products per year and that number continues to grow. This means that I have to take responsibility for my role as a beauty brand which has contributed to the growing plastic pollution problem on our planet.

We believe that anything that is authentic is effective. All hair is good hair, and we are here to help you protect roots & accept your roots. Upgrading to biodegradable packaging will allow us the opportunity to protect our planet as much as we protect our manes. 

Why Supporting our Campaign Makes Sense!

• The beauty and personal care industry has become a 90 billion-dollar beast that generates 70% of waste in landfills. The US plastic product packaging has increased 120 times since 1960, which primarily reflects plastic packaging, makes up nearly 25 billion in sales. This plastic pollution is destroying our planet and causing climate changes all over the world. There is an astonishing estimated 3.5 million pounds of plastic waste in the ocean!

• The plastic used by beauty and personal care companies is not recyclable, and not biodegradable, which means they can only break down so much and never dissolve completely. The breakdown of plastic is called microplastic which looks like tiny black balls.
  Many sea mammals have mistaken these microplastics for food and feed them to their young, which eventually kills them from starvation or exploding in their stomachs.

• Our team is made up of minority women that are passionate about the health and total wellness of the body and the environment. We produce products that restore and help hair to thrive to its full potential. We understand the environment we live in can play a major role in hair loss and many disease processes. Silky Sol would like to help clean up the environment by assisting with the plastic waste clean up efforts by going 100% green with our packaging.

• Unfortunately going green is not cheap. Most companies that offer biodegradable packing only sell in bulk of 5000 or more at one time. Cardboard tubes, cartons, and boxes have proven to cost 60 times as much as mass-produced plastic options.  This is why we need your help. As a small business, which has been fully funded in house,  it is almost impossible for us to be able to purchase the eco-friendly packaging we need and have a favorable profit margin.  If we are able to receive backing we plan on using the funds to go 100% green with our product packaging, we will also pay it forward by educating, and becoming a resource for other small beauty and personal care companies to transform their packing to eco-friendly/biodegradable packaging as well. We no longer want to compromise our promise to be a trusted Clean Beauty Brand because we can not afford the purchase of biodegradable packaging.  We know this small change is one small step to help rid the planet of its big plastic pollution issue, and it will make a major difference in the cleanup efforts of our planet. We must start somewhere why not start with helping us?
