Project Description

  •

We have renovated an abandoned 100 year old building into a Fiber Arts Center in rural North Dakota. Visitors to our facility will be able to meet the fiber animals that provide the wool, tour the fiber mill to learn how the wool is processed into roving, yarn and felt and finish by learning how to use that wool to create useful and beautiful products. Visitors will be able to stay in one of our unique guest rooms in the school and enjoy locally raised food prepared by our in-house chef.  The Nome Schoolhouse is located in beautiful, peaceful North Dakota farm country.

We connect shepherds, fiber, fiber arts enthusiasts and fiber artists through direct educational offerings while preserving a historic building and growing rural community.

After 3 years renovating the abandoned school we are now working on fencing in an area by the school to provide a place for what we call the "Education Flock". We have put all of our money into this renovation and still need to purchase the materials needed to house the animals at the school so everyone can come and enjoy and learn about all the different kinds of fiber animals and their amazing fiber. We will use any contributions toward the housing and feeding of these animals.

Thank you so much for your support!
