As a long-distance female runner, I struggle to feel safe when running, and I’m not the only one.
During COVID, I was in a hotel for meetings. The gym was closed, and I had to decide to run alone at 4:30 am since this was the only time I had available.
46% of female runners are harassed while running, while 80% will change habits from running if harassed, and 21% of those women will stop running. A recent survey from Adidas states 92% of women have safety concerns when running alone outdoors. 51% of women surveyed fear being attacked, and 69% look for a running partner so they aren’t alone.
Women do not have a safe alternative to running alone other than going to a gym or scheduling a group run through a club or coach.
I was inspired to create the Running Mate App to provide real-time, on-demand running “mates” when YOU want them. Mates and users are given background and profile checks. Our technology then pairs you with relevant Mates who are paid to run with you and have similar abilities for a flat rate.
There are approximately 33 million female runners in the US. We polled 1,000 women who said they would pay for a running partner verified safe and on demand.
We are six months from launch and are raising $500,000 to bring our “Uber” for runners to market.
Become our Mate in changing the future of running on demand.
