Who is Meg Sunga?
I am a bisexual, Filipino-American, cisgender woman. But thirteen years ago? I was in the closet and a completely different person. I was raised in the very suburban, very white, very straight Midwest. There was no open queer people. So let's just say I have changed a LOT...
I am also a retrospective storyteller. All that really means is that I'm obsessed with reflecting on the past. Whether it's old journals, a mixtape of old songs made by a former flame, embarrassing photographs, or falling down the rabbit hole that is facebook memories, I love revisiting the younger version of myself. I have always believed that who we are today is a result of the mistakes we’ve made, the people we’ve met/made out with, and lessons we’ve learned along the way.
What is In Re:trospeQt?
In Re:trospeQt is a bi-weekly interview style podcast providing advice, support, and guidance for the next generation of QTPOC.
Why is In Re:trospeQt important?
According to HRC 42% of LGBT youth say they live in a community that is not accepting of LGBT people. As a young person raised in the midwest and had attended college in the Bible Belt, this statistic was very much my reality. In Re:trospeQt seeks to provide young QTPOC listeners a new kind of support system, increase QTPOC visibility, and show real life examples of self-efficacy, resiliency, and self-care.
